PARTS where to get these: Clutch and pressure plate upgrade maybe lightened flywheel

Dear Polo know it alls, I am in need of guidance with locating and ordering these parts and where to get them: Clutch and pressure plate upgrade maybe lightened flywheel.

My GTi has 132 kilowatts at the front wheels and the original clutch has 60,000 ks and will not last forever.

Please help. I need specific parts suppliers and contact details and what part numbers apply to each item.

Price guide plus postage to Brisbane as well. One recommendation was 'stage one 14ibs one from ECS Tuning'. I emailed them and they could not confirm suitable clutch compatable with my Polo.

Thanks for helping, I need it. Cheers Al

Thats because they dont have Polo in the US mate, you have the 1.8t , the ECS 14ibs is for the AGU mk4 golf and fits perfectly and have fitted many and on a few members Polos. Also if you are looking at 14bs you are already looking at light flywheel. It has a dual mass from factory and costs the price of an ECS kit alone to replace

That's the one I'd go for, even if it's nosiy when idling...

Not certain if the TDi uses the same clutch and flywheel as the GTi (I think it does) but if it does, then there's this

I've gotten all my clutch parts from ECS in the States.

I originally went for the VR6 clutch plates + ECS 14lbs SMF kit (ES125 I think?). After 3500KM the 'rattly' nature of the 14lbs SMF is really annoying me - it's very different to the stock DMF. As such, I'm getting it swapped over to a G60 20.5lbs SMF, and also changing out the ECS bearing for a VW genuine one.

I realise I'm probably in the extreme minority for this, but I didn't like the chattery noise at idle and under load, it makes me feel like my car is about to break.

Edit: once I have the 20.5lbs SMF in, I'll be selling the ECS 14lbs SMF for a steal.

Thanks guys, so Jimmy your saying that your recommended ECS 14ibs is for the AGU mk4 golf requires the dual mass to be replaced and I quote 'Also if you are looking at 14bs you are already looking at light flywheel.' ? And if so do ECS have suitable flywheel and a part number also? Cheers Al

If you buy the ECS kit you get clutch kit and lightweight single mass flywheel together. I just bought one two weeks ago for less than $500 including shipping.

    Hey buddy,

    Check out this link: Volkswagen Golf IV 1.8T > Search > ES125 > ES#125 Stage 1 Clutch Kit - Steel Flywheel (14lbs.) - ESR198031S1

This is what I had installed in my 2008 Polo GTI. Didn't need anything else, just that kit and new gearbox oil.

HOWEVER, I am not entirely happy with this kit (almost everyone is though, from what I can see), and I am replacing the flywheel with this: Volkswagen Golf IV 1.8T > Search > G60 > ES#250321 20.5lbs G60 Standard Weight Flywheel - 02A105269B and the bearing with this: Volkswagen Golf IV 1.8T > Search > Bearing > ES#257450 Throw Out Bearing - 02A141165M

Hope these links help you get a better idea of what you need to buy for a 'clutch upgrade'. You only NEED to buy the kit in the first link - around $500 including postage - and this can be installed by a mechanic for a simple upgrade solution.
