    Ottinger Chip

Ok...So after I hijacked a thread yesterday in regards to the Ottinger Chip(Sorry Maris), I have made some inquires and have got this information for you all.

In giving you this, it dosn't lead any ammo to the "My chip is better than yours" debate that many of these threads seem to break down into. It is just there for your consideration...

-The Ottinger chip possesses the same power gains as the APR chip(152kw, however, on the Ottinger web site the power figure is stated as 143kw, this is because the Ottinger power figure is measured in the DIN[Metric], and APR is measured in SAE[Imperial]...Both power figures would be the same if measured vice versa), and similar to both Revo (158kw) and Giac.

-The Ottinger program is non switchable, Because...

-The Ottinger program is covered by the Volkswagen factory warranty.

-The price of the Ottinger tune also covers the warranty paperwork required buy VW Group to cover the car. So long as the car is still within its warranty period, the Ottinger program can be added and still covered as a factory option.

    good write up ryan.

definitely will give some people peace of mind in regards to 'void of warranty'.

is it only Oettinger that covers VW factory warranty.

for the money a chip costs, it is not worth doing a naturally aspirated car. the power gains are minimal.....sometimes only maybe 6 or 7kW.

Its possible, but money vs kw/torque gains is not worth it. I originally spoke to Guy Harding (Harding Performance/APR) a while ago (as I too own a 1.6L), he said to me not to bother. The tune does exist, but you'll be getting about 6kw, and about 15~20nm's more torque for almost $1800. There are several other companies out there that do it - Angel Tuning in the UK, and Superchips have it as well.

I dont think so. My 1.6L is 77kw.
