    Ladies, come now...

I don't know jack about intercoolers. It was my understanding that a intercooler should be engineered for the particular solution.

If a 'good unit' (ie, size and in/out piping) is a good unit, then this option makes perfect sense.

I'm interested, but if we can keep the installed price <$1K, think there will be a few of us.

At the end of the day, there are 2 proven kits out there, that have been proven to work and work well. I know which one I would go if I was to go down the FMIC route.
Also, how you spend your money is up to you. Its your hard earned.
Sharkie went the custom route, and it worked well for him from what I heard.
Being able to do it yourself, or having mates that will do the job for a carton is always a bonus, and the best way to keep costs down.
If you are looking at going the custom route, then having piping and labour come to over 1g on top of the initial outlay of the I/C itself, then I think you have ripped yourself off. The Forge one can be had for about $1200 landed, but labour may bite you in the bum.
Its all up to you ofcourse, but that what I would look at. (I would be doing the labour myself)

It was a hot day in Sydney (for this time of year at least), probably towards 30 degrees.

I was quite suprised to find the Pog having a little trouble breating and I'm assuming it was the dreaded heat soak.

I have not had my car through a summer yet and am now leaning more towards the FMIC more than ever.

I'm pretty keen for someone to take charge on the leadership of deveoping a FMIC and kit of pieces, I like the Frozenboost one (not that I know anything about the unit or brand) as it looks pretty good and would be cheap.

Does anyone know someone who may be interested in making a kit of bits to fit and connect a unit to the Pog? Obviously the cost of doing it is in the 1st one, so we would need to work out some financials to suit everyone, but if we can get the units landed for around 400, kit for 300 then even with install, should be around or maybe under the 1k mark...

I guess geography is working against us here, so it makes sense that the kit would be produced where the most interested people are, or where we can find someone willing to make a bunch of kit bits.

i would say go to a piping specialist once numbers would be confirmed then tell him you want X amount of kits, i think you would get a discount for providing him with a large amount of relatively easy work.

the kits sharkie was organising are for this FMIC core.

after driving back from guys place and having a lil "fun" with the chip i noticed heat soke creep up pretty quick. i new then that i wanted one. cant say its made alot of noticable differance since getting it in the colder months but no doubt ill see the benefits in summer.

That Frozenboost one is the exact same 1 I can get .... at a bit less than $340 delivered as well.

Piping and connectors then can be made here in BNE as a kit.

All up less than $1000 fitted .....

AND .... in a test on the dyno intake temps were actually 0.1 degrees c cooler than the APR FMIC. Also had no problem with flow drops as I easily sustained the requried boost I needed.

Also it actually fits easier than the Forge FMIC as the bumper actually goes back on afterwards .... slight shave (0.5cm in 1 spot) to the bar support required.

My Polo made 140kw atw (@5100rmin) with only an APR V1 tune, custom FMIC, custom DP and Forge diverter. Minimal $$$ for max return, $3500 got me 55kw atw extra over a stock Polo ....... hows that for Bang for your buck?

Brand name not necessarily always the best way to go ....

    Thanks Sharkie.

    i'm interested.

If a few of us are in, would you be able to get the intercooler and ALL the bits togeather? If I was sure I was going to get everrything required and some photos for guidance, I'd be in for sure...

Do you think you could put a cost on it at this stage, on the basis of say, 5 of us going in on it?

    hey sharkie,

is it possible to get a rough figure of how much it would be to send over the piping to WA? thats the cost of the piping+any other bits needed for the install and postage. (not the FMIC core)

    Thanks in advance

    Kiel
