    Optima battery

Has anyone fitted an Optima red top or yellow top into a 9N3 Gti? I searched and found nothing.

If so, which model Optima (they make dozens and their spec sheets are pretty unhelpful) and does it fit the oem battery cradle with no mods?

    Thanks in advance.

I had an Optima battery in the past. The first one died in less than 3 years of very light use, the second one came in our Jeep Cherokee we bought new, the battery was replaced under the warranty be the dealer when the car refused to start due to the dead battery again.

If you get an Optima make sure that the battery is fresh and has not been seating on the shelf for 2-3 years already. I would go with the Varta or Odysey (the same here check the battery age when buying), The thing is that expensive batteries don't sell fast enough and they could age in the shops.

I have Yellow-top Optima in my car. It has been there for around 3 years. No issues. I have also been running a power hungry sound system. I also do have a custom earthing kit installed and all cables have been replaced with 0 gauge. Images below are of my old Hyundai Excel (written off now)... the cabling setup is pretty much the same in the Polo, but with a Yellow Top optima.

Both my Polo and Excel were installed by Marty @ FHRX Studios.
