Thoughts on New Tyre - Only done about 250km on these tyres but so far so good! Pitched it into a few corners and happy with the results, handles the wet weather well.

I rang Option1 Garage for another set of cheapo Kumho, they now aren't allowed to sell them at the discounted rate they used to as a "tyre franchise" got PO'd with the distributor. They quoted $167 for the KU31's in 205/45/16 when that I paid $100 for em 18 months ago, and $195 for KU36's. The fellow said they barely sell any Kumho anymore.

I've ordered bridgestone RE002's from Jax for $167 each.

I spoke with Bob Jane, the fellow wanted to sell semi slicks (Federal or Kumho) and didn't want to sell the Bridgestones when I'd asked about them. Now that my car will be a daily driver for the foreseeable future the semi-slicks aren't ideal, plus I have proper semi's on track rims for when things get serious.

Well, I bolted back on my stock wheels and tyres for last Sunday's cruise and I was pleasantly surprised by how well behaved the Continental PremiumContact 2's (195/55R15) were. Going at it pretty hard though tight, hilly roads they held on harder than I expected were very forgiving once they reached their limit (very progressive transition from gripping to sliding). The squealed as soon as the limits were approached under braking and cornering but continued to behave well.

Did bloody well mate, I was struggling with brand new ps3's, first drive!! Couldn't believe Todd though with that missile... Impressive!
