New Tire - Kuhmo Ecsta KU-31
    Tire Size - 205/45/16
Tire Replaced - Continental Contact Sport 2 CCS2
    Km's On New Tire - 8000km (contis lasted 37000ks)

Thoughts on New Tire - good value compared to contis. Good grip in the dry, quiet (until they start to lose grip - howl like a bitch then ). Very grippy in the wet. Nice and progressive when they do start to slide. No probs with wearing so far.

New Tire - Bridgestone Adrenalin (RE001)
    Price - $230/tyre
    Tire Size - 205/40/17
    Tire Replaced - Faaarken RT615
    Km's On new Tire - 6500km
Thoughts on New Tire - Admittedly, anything not square in shape would be better as a road tyre than the RT615s, but the Adrenalins handle well in dry and wet, give good turn in, ride nicely and are quiet. Not as soft as the OEM Contis, but much better handling when pushed. Happy. Would buy again.

Not a bad road tyre, little soft in the sidewall for the track, and this causes a bit of a problem on the road.Just replaced one with a bulge in the wall caused by our lovely roads.
Last year lost one to a sharpish rock puncturing the sidewall at onder 10kph...
So all in all,a little weak for our Aussie roads.

New Tire - Marangoni Zeta Linea http://www.marangonityre.co.uk/Zeta_...D=2&Level2ID=2

    Thoughts on New Tire - Fantastic! I have visited a lot of windy roads in that 5000kms and the grip has been great in the wet and dry. The reason for replacing my front two tyres early is because both CS2's got bulges in the sidewalls within a few weeks of each other. Great value tyre. Check out the link above, here's a quote;

"...the Zeta Linea has fantastic performance both on road and track. Since 2004, Zeta Linea has been used to great effect in the Mazda RX-8 Cup in Italy & Europe."

The Conti's are OK - probably low on grip and definitely can feel moving around on their tread blocks when new.

They are very good in the wet – feel the same as when it’s dry.

As everyone knows, they are soft in the sidewalls and are REALLY prone to punctures and terminal sidewall damage due to kerb/pothole hitting.

Buggered if I know how some people get 40 & 50,000kms out of them. I’ve rotated religiously and really don’t throw the car around or scream off at lights (too much) and mine might make 30 – 33,000.

Will soon be putting on Dunlop Sportmax’s so interesting to compare.

    New Tyre - Yokohama AD07
    Tyre Size - 205/45/16
Exisiting Tyre - Dunlop Sport Maxx
    Km's On Tyre - 6000km

Noticed an immediate difference in high-speed cornering with AD07s, took handling to the next level (near R tyre performance). Bc they're designed for dry weather/extreme conditions, don't expect them to be comfortable or grip well in the wet. The AD07s are suited to those who value performance above all else. Otherwise, the Dunlop Sport Maxx are an excellent all-purpose performance tyre - comfortable, quiet and excellent in the wet.

TIP - the way AD07s are designed, even as 205s, look much wider, more like 215 (or wider). This may appeal to Polo GTI owners who are annoyed by the 205 width limit on Polos.

Hahaha just clicked over 50500 on the conti's. The past 5000km I've been trying to wear them out belting with the traction control turned off. I seem to be burning more fuel than rubber though.
