    SC2>Maragoni ?

    Car - 08 Polo GTI
    Rim Size - 17 Lenso Type M
New Tire - Marangoni Zeta Linea 2
Price - $300 for set of 4 - 2nd hand, 7mm of tread instead of 8mm new (i got the hook up in Perth)
    Tire Size - 205/40/17
    Tire Replaced - Continental CS2
    Km's On new Tire - 1000km
Thoughts on New Tire - Thus far not as grippy or confidence inspiring as the SC2! Likes to 'tramline' when pushed hard through a corner as opposed to the 'point & shoot' of the Contis - road noise resonates on some surfaces but still a hell of a lot more quiet than the SC2's..opinion may change with time - more 'testing' needs to be done

ok...first morning of driving in SEMI wet conditions (very light drizzle)

The Maragoni suck for wet weather traction - mid corner grip is non existent - traction control intrusion very heavy in first & second

Seriously thinking of going back to stock rims and the Conti's for winter - its just too dangerous...then again i could just adjust my driving style back to normal, but where is the fun in that?

On another note, dancing on the line of traction and wrestling with the car was fun

Paul, my sentiments exactly. The Polo has been a great surprise to me - I love it and am considering keeping it at end of lease.
Mate I always wanted to keep mine, I've got a loan not a lease. After living with it for 3 years, I don't ever want to sell it

Joel don't you have the Maragoni's bolognaise's fettucinés? They were good in the wet round Thredbo weren't they? I know my PP2's with prob 0% tread were excellent

After getting my PP2's put on, they feel great, but they get even better with age.

My Marangoni's are awesome on everything. What's the tread pattern like on the Zeta Linea 2's. I've just got the Zeta Linea's. I love them!! I take round-abouts and quick corners in the wet and I only get slight understeer....maybe my lowered springs help as well, but the tyres feel so safe. Off the line traction is awesome as well, no tyre screech!

Ever thought why you got them so cheap with so much tread? Obviously someone else had them and hated them....now you carry the burden. Wouldn't really call it a hook up, more like paying how much they are really worth.

I can't host images at work - sites getting blocked

Id like to show you my tread pattern so you can compare - its odd that we have such differing opinions on the possibly the same tyres?

shoot me an email to chuckkail@hotmail.com and il reply back with a pic of the tread pattern - i need to suss this out

just to confirm - i have Zeta Lineas (the '2' part must have been a newb typo) The Marangoni website lists these on their 'Summer Tyre' collection - i reckon for good reason

Happy with dry performance for what i paid - 300 for a set of 4...still rate the Conti's as a better all rounder tho

Yeah, I've found my Marangoni's Zeta Linea's Rigatoni's (16" - maybe that makes a diff?) to be brilliant in all conditions. Particularly in the wet around the Snowies, I felt so confident with them unlike the conti's.

I have had second hand tyres before and they in no way lived up to their reputation. I'll never buy used tyres ever again even if only 40 kms have been driven with them.

Tyres can turn to garbage if they've been sitting on a shelf for too long. When you buy tyres, ask when they were actually manufactured.

It should have the Manufactured date on it some where. It's true that the rubber can go off if they sit around on a shelf for too long.

had a thought today...that ****ty experience in the wet was the first rain we have had in a long time - the low low traction was probably just the light oil film on surface

rain again last night...much much better results
