So.. to sum things up.. they dont have petrol because its too expensive?

is that a load of crap? 98 is empty so obvoiusly there is demand! put the price up i dont care there is DEMAND!

I haven't had any issues getting fuel in Perth. I fill up in Morley, Wellington St BP, and they never had any issues. Price is ok as well, $1.45-1.50/L

Just got this email from someone that works for QLD Government.

QGCPO have been advised today through the Department of Mines and Energy of the following short term fuel supply shortages that are expected to affect the greater Brisbane area over the next few days. These fuel supply shortages are affecting Shell, Caltex and BP network.

Caltex is experiencing a period of tight supply due to a long period of low inventory levels caused by unplanned shutdowns in recent months.
Stock outs of ULP at Caltex service stations are likely in the greater Brisbane area today and tomorrow. Supply is also tight in the Mackay region.

Shell is normally supplied by Caltex for ULP at the Pinkenba terminal in Brisbane and therefore due to Caltex experiencing a period of tight supply, Shell service stations will begin to run out of regular unleaded fuel (ULP) from today, lasting at least until the weekend.

In relation to BP, retail shortages of ULP are not expected today but there may be some stock outs of ULP at BP outlets tomorrow, returning to normal within a few days.

Other products e.g. premium unleaded, diesel and LPG will likely be unaffected.

QGCPO recommends a communication be issued to all your Fleet Managers and drivers to advise them of this potential fuel shortage and at the same time ensure that they are aware that they may need to utilise an alternative site and alternative method of payment.

Typically, all fuel (at least 98RON) in each major city is manufactured by one refinery - ie BP makes all 98 in Perth, and then the BP product is marketed by Shell, Caltex etc under their own name.

If the refinery is owned by caltex in yr city, then all outlets will be low. this may be offset by a retailer buying a cargo of 98 ex singapore.

Problem with ex singapore product is there is less reliability in product, and the quality is then further affected during transport and storage.

    Its not about customer loyalty.

You'll find that the company who refines the product will usually have the best quality of product and availability (unless there is a refinery breakdown at that time)
