New Wheels for 98 (mk III/N6) Polo

    Hi all,

I'm on the lookout for a set of larger wheels to replace the standard ones on my 98 1.6 Polo, has anyone replaced theirs and if so what size wheel/tyre combination did you use to keep the correct rolling radius?

    Cheers

    Welcome Woody.

The wheel size does not directly affect the rolling diameter. The tyre profile should be reduced when using larger wheels to keep the same overall diam.

If you change your wheels / tyres to run lower profile, you can make the ride hard / rougher as there is less air in the tyre to absorb bumps.

With your wheels, you are looking for a PCD of 4 x 100 (4 wheel bolts, 100mm spacing).

For wheel size comparisons, look at the tool on the 1010 Site.

There are not a lot of 6N Polo guys on here, maybe have a look at the Polo UK site for more specific info on your car.

Depends on lots of things mate, how much do you want to spend?

Are you going to lower the car as well? Are you looking to completely revamp the look of the car, or just have something other than the stock wheels on it?

Do you have any inspiration of what your want the car to look like?

    Hey Jarred,

Not going overboard on this as it's my second car (mainly gonna be used for commute to work) so realy just wanting to make it look a bit better. Bigger wheels make a difference but i'm not going for a full revamp, the wheels i'm thinking would be 15's or maybe 16's if i can find some that are a good fit on the car. Anything bigger than that is just going to look Rice.

Suspension will stay as is, unless anything needs repairing in the future, in which case i'll see what the alternatives are at that time.

    Cheers
