    sup guys ... im considering changing my eibach 35mm springs ... i want to go lower ... does H&R have anything in 40 or 45mm ???

    H&R have an Ultra low coilover that drops to 40mm.

    Might want to Pm GTI Dave to see if he knows anything, especially since he has a Polo GTI himself.

    It took me about 3 hours to fit the all 4 springs myself, although, I used a 2 post hoist and had all of the tools.
    Rear springs take about 20 min to fit.
    Front springs were a bit more of a hassle.
    I found that removing the drive shafts from the hub, and undoing the 3 bolts that hold in the lower ball joint(13mm bolt) to be easier. you then need to remove the bolt that hold on the drop link, then the Tie Rod to the Hub Carrier, undo the center nut on the drive shaft(about a 30mm socket I think), remove the locating bolt where the strut goes into the hub carrier, then try and slide out in one motion. You will swear, and you will neen some Lanolin spray, or WD-40, as the parts can be stuck.

    Apparently AP are similar quality / make to Weitech.

    the front is a PITA as others have suggested. It's not as straight forward as other vehicles, do your research before getting to the point of no return. There's a tool to get the strut out of the hub thing, make sure you have that, as banging with the hammer won't suffice and won't make life easy getting it all back together. (i tried, than gave up, remember point of no return)

    Also remember the subframe changes all castor settings, so could steer like a pig once done until you get an alignment.

    Most people have paid around $200+ from someone else to do it, for the grazed knuckles and cursing involved, it's money well spent IMO.

    I wedged the tip of a Cold Chisel in there to widen the clamp, then sprayed in some Lanolin, and the came out very easily.

    Also, you will not need to touch the sub frame to pull out your struts. The only thing you need to undo that is attached to the body of the car, and not the suspention is the 3 13mm strut top bolts in the engine bay.

    After all was said and done, I went to get a wheel alignment, and my setting were fine, and I didn't need any adjustments. I thought that was great!!

    I say goes for H&R then control arm bushes first, definitely cheaper but may not be easier.

    Control arm bushes take a while to fit (for the little expense they are).

    I'd talk to your mechanic about what else can be done at the same time to minimize your labor cost.
