    New polo... With an issue?

    Hi guys!

I just picked up my new polo tonight! Very very fun, and nice car..

While driving tonight, I had a few issues with it..

    1. Engine light randomly came on while driving fine, not too sure what it could be. It has a APR tune, not sure if this could throw lights?

    2. Noisy as hell gearbox while idling. Was ticking and ticking. Not sure what was happening with it, but thinking it might be the oil used.

    3. Scraping noise when turning on the rear demister?

    Other than that, fantastic car.

    Sorry, just realised lol.

    9N polo gti
    Manual
    Apr tune
    Apr engine mounts
    Rsb
    Coil overs
    Harding performance turbo back
    Apr r1 DV
    Forge TIP

The gearbox noise just sounds very chatty, not sure if it's normal or not. Turbo sounds very loud, but I'm assuming this is from the TIP?

Any additional info let me know.

    Welcome to owning a Polo

You need see someone with a VAGCOM cable who can read the code and tell you why it's happening. Where are you located?

Not sure about the other issues you are having.

re the gearbox - it's a common mod to go to lightened flywheels - depending on how lightened they are you get an increase in chatter. I've gone to 14lb and get subtle chatter when idling with the AC on - can't notice it any other time. If it's had a stage 1/2/3 clutch swap I'd say it's a possibility it has a lightened flywheel too.

Ah yep, it's got a lightened flywheel and heqvy duty clutch.

I'm just used to having a quiet gearbox.

You can hear it normally without clutch in, with the clutch in it goes dead silent. Just worried it might be a thrown bearing

I wouldn't worry too much about the chatter - completely normal with a lightened flywheel - I had in the UK that did the same as yours - silent with the clutch in and as soon as you put it in neutral it was so loud - that was on a TDI too - sounded like a tractor.

I've had a throw out bearing go on a subaru, it only made noise when shifting at high revs. At no other time did it make any noise. It wasn't an issue, or need addressing. Still tracked the car regularly. Sold it before needing to change the clutch so never fixed it.

Noise from the rear dimister, that's weird, never heard of that before. Can't think of any reason for a scraping (I'm assuming mechanical) noise coming from an electrical item.

Ah awesome. Massive sigh of relief. This is exactly the same, it's loud as hell. Missus was driving next to me in her prelude, she was telling me that she could hear the chatter as I drove.

Now to tackle the emissions problem hah.

Ahh again, woo.. Hah. My previous car had it too, no issues except for the noise for the last 2 years... Just wasn't sure if it was normal.

Yeah only happened twice. Not too sure what exactly was happening.. But all good. Will see what I can find out.

I have a ECS stage1 clutch. And it chatters quite a bit when the clutch isn't engaged. Been told by a bunch of people in here and the dealer that it will chatter.
