I believe the new 7speed DSG was limited to 250NM from the factory.
The 6speed was rated for 350NM iirc.

hmmm. looks like it's wearing Denvers. I wonder if it now has the 5 * 112 stud pattern? Detroits would look nice on there.

Bit disappointed that it weighs the same as the old one. I thought the new polos were supposed to be lighter? Still, the boost in power is welcome. And same sprint times as the golf eh?

I wonder if the track is much wider and if you can fit fatter tyres? Interior looks wicked!

1184 kgs? I thought it was supposed to be much lighter?

Not going to be upgrading to one of these, not a huge fan of the styling.

APR's Stage I ECU update for the Golf 118TSI takes the same engine and gearbox from 118kw to 151kw, and from 240NM to 317NM. I'm not aware of if there are any mechanical differences beteen the Golf 118TSI's engine and this new Polo GTI's engine which gives it the additional power and torque, but it's safe to say an update should at least give it the same 151kw/317nm.

The 7sp DSG is fine with the additional torque, just like the original 6sp DSG is fine with well over 350nm (my old car ran 430nm and there are already several people in Australia and hundreds around the world running around with 500nm+ in them).

Well, you better start saving, because if we take this quote from the press release as literal, it comes as standard with 225/45R17 tyres!
Finally, a set of 17-inch wheels identical to those fitted to the Golf GTI are fitted along with a set of red brake callipers.
I guess the only question would be whether Australia will offer both 3 and 5dr, or just the 3dr.

However almost everyone is heading towards auto only so i guess it was inevitable.
How is it an issue? The DSG shifts faster, and is more livable for most people.

Sure, I love a manual box too... but I find the dual-clutch boxes so much nicer to live with, even in the more ball tearing sports cars.

    I prefer to drive manual.
Sure this one is the dry-clutch version which doesn't require the expensive maintenance but it is still ana auto, which pushes the price up another 2-2.5k and will cost more to fix if it goes wrong.

There are a lot of people who prefer to drive manual as well which rules this out for them.

But It is almost impossible to get a manual euro car anymore so i guess this is just conforming.

6kg lighter, not much, but 22kw more. I'm a fan and will be v. jealous when I see them on the road 6l/100km is fantastic, I'm currently getting 9.6
