    SA Build quality

I had both. 2006 built MKV GTI 5 door (SA build) and a late 2007 bulid MKV GTI 3 door (GER build).

To be brutally honest - I would take the SA build of my two any day. I had many trim rattle problems with the 3 door where as the 5 door was perfect.

But like anything, you are taking the word of a minority on the forum (where negative issues are the loudest) regarding the quality so take it at face value and don't let it guide a decision.

If someone could provide QA stats from the production line/sample of customers feedback of statistical significance then you may get a worthy answer.

Our South African manufactured Golf TDI is good

Remember most parts are built in other factories from around the globe for eg I lift the bonnet and it has Made in Italy stamped on the front guard area

I'm heading into my dealer on the weekend to order one also for the missus. Going to also do a Comfortline 1.2 TSI, DSG and both the Comfort and Sport packages. Wasn't going to spring the extra for the Audio, Seats or Parking sensors. What price did you manage to come up with or did they base it on an older pacific price and make it subject to confirmation etc?

Dave, I haven't finalised a price yet it has not been released, but will be on the 8th of May. I worked on a base price of 25K ++++, it should cost around 34K all up driveaway. I was going to buy my wife a GTI but as I have a TTS, I thought we already have something fast. I will probably do a chip upgrade when available too, should take it to around 100kw.

Yeah I thought that would be the case. I'll be doing the same and just getting the deposit down so I can secure a car from start of launch.
