    new mods

    Hi Guys,

it has been a while greetings from SA!

Just added a SEAT FMIC and TIP, had to get boost pipes made ( very expensive ) !!
any way, current list of mods to date are:

    3" TNT Stainles DP
    PD 160 Intake
    BMC Flatbed Fiter
    SAMCO Complete TIP
    SEAT CUPRA FMIC..
    FRC Phase 2 Map.

previous power without FMIC and TIP was 171.5 WHP, current power with FMIC and TIP 184 WHP..
so there is a power gain, but something i notice is that previously the car used to boost very hard at 2000 RPM onwards till about 5000 then boost gets lower..

now boost is average until about 2.8 RPM and then after just before 3000 RPM boost gets really strong and it holds it till redline

been reading and wanted to confirm if this change is due the the bigger intercooler, causing a pressure drop at low RMP, causing a little lag?...

dont actually mind it cause down low was very aggressive before, when the SO use to drive it i used to freak out in the passenger seat ( usually over the limit when she drove... so just imagine me freaking out even more )

now its more driveable... but just wanted to confirm if its indeed the bigger ic thats causing this..

oh and in regards to fuel consumption its gone from previous with phase 2, with DP and bmc and intake was ( 6.9 to 13 L per 100 KM )

    now 5.9 to 15 L per 100 KM

obvious the low figure is decent driving and the highest it driving like i stole it!
oh and its running on 95 pump fuel.. thats the best we get in SA

Nice to see that more people have the seat IC
i also have it since last year but i didn't get it on th dyno yet to see the Hp gain.
i did noticed it was stronger in higher RPM.
and also in lower RPM it's a bit more laggy.
it still pulls from about 2000rpm, just not as agressive as before and once at 2700RPM it kicks in at full power.
so it's verry normal that the car reacts different after the IC set up.
thats because the cupra IC is pretty big for the small K03s turbo, (just not to big)

did you use the ic piping from seat or have you custom built it?
and i see you have 184Whp so you have chipped the car??
or do you mean 184Hp at fly?

    Hi,

nice to meet sum1 else with a cupra FMIC as well!
yup both of us have the same symptoms if u wanna call it that, yes it still boosts at 2000 just not as hard as before and then at 2700 it boosts hard till red line, its definately due to the drop in pressure because if the size if the cupra IC..
i had the piping custom built, it still goes into the std boost pipe before throttle and to std boost pipe to turbo so the size in pipe is not too big...

    yup car is chipped
    184 HP at wheels
    215.56 HP at fly..

i got mine from the local VW dealership, although SEAT has left SA, VW SA is still honouring the SEAT brand and i think they order SEAT spares from SEAT directly...

Any idea of how much the SEAT FMIC cost ya??

How does the radiator cope with the reduced airflow from the seat fmic in aus?

    Hi,

the Seat FMIC cost me R 4 500
boost pipes made and fitted FMIC R 3 500
    Total: R 8 000

i could have got a normal FMIC fitted for R 4 500 ( similar to the forge one )
but atleast with the Cupra FMIC i know it will handle a K04 or bigger as well...

no effect noted with radiator, engine temp still at center...

The Seat one is designed for a diesel engine from memory.

I've read the turbo on a diesel engine works in a different way, goes on boost at much lower revs and requires the intercooler to act as more of a heatsink. The intercooler is impressive, would be helpfull on a BT build.

as far as my understanding goes, with diesels, the turbo is always on boost.

you can hear mine boosting its tits off when it's on track map on a cool day, at idle.

mmm the diesel cupra also uses the same intercooler as the petrol 1.8T cupra we have here pushing 132KW...
abt the turbo's on diesel's im not too sure all i know is that they boost much higher than our petrol ones...
