    New Forum Person

hi there guys, my name is scott and im 25 years old, living in melbourne, im a cancer, and im looking for a sensible, thoughtful, funny, and cheerful woman to share many an enjoyable moment with.

but more importantly than that, i just got my polo tdi a week ago, and its pretty much a no-brainer to sign up to this site- great wealth of experience and knowledge.

i must say, i was pleasantly surprised with the tdi- sure its not fast and it doesnt feel grippy, but its a fun drive nonetheless. i had my heart set on a gti and i was certain it was going to be that instead, but seeing as soon i will be running to and from buller 4 days a week, and the fact that i used to drive a discovery (after my vr6), i wanted something diesel (fuel economomomy and torque).

so basically i just wanted to say hi and yoroshiku! (its a japanese word which roughly translates to "and from here onwards, to a good relationship!").

i just had one question- i see all you gti guys talk about apr ecu's- it seems to me that, given peoples' experience with different aspects of the brand, that apr have quite the loyal following.

i have been to the different websites, and i cannot find anything on the apr website that is specifically tailored to the tdi.

so my question is: im looking to get chipped- does anyone have any suggestions or experience/ advice when it comes to oettinger?

it seems that oettinger would be a pretty satisfactory option, but does anyone have any words of wisdom for an uninitiated bloke who is looking up the engine power in this way?

any replies would be great. and nice to meet you.

Welcome Scott, ...not sure how useful we'll be in terms of assisting you in your search for a bird, but nice of you to share that with us nonetheless. Chances are a GTI may have enhanced your appeal with the gals over a diesel, but there's still hope. Check Dave's thread on Polo in Saudi Arabia, that should give you a good indication on what's required to give your diesel a bit of kick (and appeal with the babes)...

There's a few players who tune diesels, ..work out who would offer the best support based on where you're located, but generally, just chat to them and see what you think

    You want fries with that?

    Hi Scott,
Welcome and congrats on ur purchase. My sista inlaw has just ordered a Polo Tdi.
Now, try doing a search in here for chip .... not the smith's type though. I'm going to chip the Jetta through SUPERCHIPS here in WA. He used to do chipping for Volkswagen Racing UK. Say no more. But do your research and speak to people who have had it done in same car or engine.

Hi Scott and welcome to the forum. Oettinger is one of the longest established and trusted names in VW tuning and I believe that their TDI ECU software would probably be second to none. They have a close association with APR and other reputable brands include GIAC and Revo - although I have no knowledge of those two brands products for turbo diesels.

Enjoy your dub and the forum ... there's always someone on here willing and able to help (if they can) and it's a good source of info for what is going on (dubwise) in your area.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    thanks guys

im pretty certain that im going to go the oettinger way- the only thing stopping me from driving out to volkspower right now is the fact that i want my old man to drive the car a fair bit, and THEN he can feel the difference before and after i get it chipped. i guess its a father-son experience i want to share with him.
    cheers!
