Hey guys just found this site been on the UK clubpolo.co.uk and am already finding this one so much more helpful.

Have a 2006 GTI Blue 17"s 3 inch stainless and Oettinger chip. What I am wondering has any1 fitted an aftermarket stereo or has the wiring diagram to do so cause the guys who fitted mine couldnt manage to find the accessories so i am just having to pop my faceplate off to turn the stereo off.

    Any help be greatly appreciated.

    Regards Jason

A lot of VW have to have a couple of wires swapped around in the std wiring to make aftermarket stereos work properly.

I had this with a late mk3 Golf and an Alpine a couple of years back. I am surprised a professional outfit couldn't work it out.

    Maybe vwvortex.com has the answers?

It seems with the new GTI there is a wiring system called C-Bus where one wire does multiple things and they reckon i need to spen 300 for an adaptor so was just trying to get roung this

Surely you could just run a wire from a switched live at the fusebox to the back of the stereo?

Welcome jasn. And please post some pics of your car

Someone on the vortex site replaced their head unit with a double DIN touchscreen unit, which I think provides ICE, TV and Nav. Sounded quite neat

Wink Welcome... and Getting The Big Picture

You need to have the pics hosted externally. Use a 3rd party host such as Picsplace or Imageshack...... or you'll find that your Internet Provider gives you a chunk of server space. I use that for my pics. Look in "User Tips" for more info.
