Hi, can anyone point me to an online resource so that I can identify parts, locations and part numbers? I am just starting work on a 2003 1.4 litre Polo and need to be able to identify and hunt down parts on the internet.
Also, if there is an online parts supplier, in Australia or UK, that has got all those details and parts for sale it would be very helpful, thanks.
Please note, I dont have a whole bunch of VW specialists in my area. There is a VW dealership nearby but dealerships are usually my last resort.
ok, thanks. But its not recognising the VIN number ?? is this a known problem with VINs for cars sold into the Australian market? Or is there another website that decodes Australian VINs correctly.
Thing is, I am not taking anything for granted as to what type of engine is fitted. I am starting from scratch.
cheers.
VIN won't work on that site, as it's an online clone of the factory parts catalogue.
When you scroll down on that page, you'll see that Polo/Derby/Vento is highlighted. To the right of that is the list of year models covered for that model. You'll need to click on the one that it relevent to you, which you detirmine by the number after the 4th Z in the VIN. It's either going to be a 2, 3, or 4. You will also need to work out the engine code, which will be the first 3 letters of the engine number on your rego papers. That should be enough to figure out engine/mechanical stuff at least. Electrical, interior and brake stuff gets a little murky though, and you will need to have it confirmed off the VIN via the dealer.
thanks for that. slowly getting the picture now. I will use the engine number to take the next couple of steps.
thanks guys.
and for the matter of buying parts online, anyone got any suggestions?
Out of the UK isn't too bad.
Plenty of Ebay sellers from there, that are either dealers or businesses that buy up surplus or redundant stock to re-sell.
