My Polo GTI place card thread

Hey all!

Well, the time is almost here. The new car is confirmed (looks like next week), so thought I would show my face around here. At first I was a little meh about it all, as it is just 'another' car for me. But now I am getting more into the whole thing!

A little background on me first (this might be long, sorry beer educated!)

I have had a too many cars along the way, my last two have been my vice, Subaru's..

2002>2004 - 1999 MY00 WRX

Stuff I did - The money pit, 2 x clutches, 2 x motors... Hyperflow FMIC kit (tooo much for a FMIC, think near $2.7k fitted), Apex Power FC, VF23 turbo, HKS Hyper exhaust, etc. 190kws atw with a slipping clutch with this one.

Then in 2004 I brought a new 2004 MY05 Subaru Forester XT Lux. Again, the mod bug bit quickly, but after the last car I learnt how to do this one right! At first it was just a full 3" exhaust and a tune by STI Docklands, but in the end after 4 years I ended up doing - bigger turbo, bigger top mount intercooler, bigger fuel pump, changed springs and struts, biggers wheels, wideband, Apexi AVC-R, bigger scoop, cold air intake, etc, etc. 110,000kms later with this car (~25,000kms fully modded) I thought it was time to move on and try saving a little money!!

The old beast I miss!



So now I am awaiting a new ( 08 ) Polo GTI. I would love to go semi nuts on it like I did with the Subaru's, but for starters damn Euro's are too exxy to mod! But, yeah I am being a good boy (husband, father, etc) with this one and only minor mods as I go. Maybe.

APR reflash is a given and have built it into the price!

Congratulations on your new car and welcome to the forum. Great place with a very helpful crowd. This forum actually was one of the reasons that made my decision easier when going for the polo.

not necessarily mate. Thats the beauty of this forum,group buys bring prices right down. I've got a set of H&R spring coming in from Germany for about $295, that cheap in anyones language. Also, theres a current group buy for a good quality FMIC kit which will work out fully installed for about $1,000. You just gotta ask around mate and keep a look out for group buys happening here. It's only expensive if you import stuff by yourself......damn shipping costs!
