My Polo - 5000k's... Oil looks low

    Hey guys,

Just thought id check my oil in my polo which i have had maybe 4 months, and it looks to be a tad low on the dipstick...

    Is this weird ?

Or is it just the nature of the beast, and should i just grab some oil and put some in her ?

Yeah mine consumed enough in the first 5-15,000kms to warrant buying a 1ltr (I thinkthat ws the size) bottle to topup - twice I think - I asked at the time on the forum and everyone thought this was normal.

It's normal, just top it up and then change the oil at 7500km.

According to VW that's normal. When I picked up my 07 GTI the dealer said to keep an eye on the oil. Apparently an acceptable amount of oil usage is 1L per every 2000k's.
    Cheers,

Per the manual its 1L per 1000km!

Thankfully oil usage on mine has been minimal, although its fine if you do use some. I never needed to top it up, although I do the oil change every 7500km.

How have you run the car in? If you run it in soft it will use more oil than if you run it in hard.

    manual quotes

normally manuals quote a very high oil consumption figure as to save the @sses so in case of high consumption like 1 ltr per 1000k's they cant be held responsible for the oil running out too early and engine siezing etc etc
