My first VW - Audio Aux help

Hey guys & gals! I'm new to the forums and have been reading lots of old threads to help me research my first VW. Decided on a Polo GTI, Candy White + Leather.

I placed an order a few weeks ago and with any luck I might have it this Friday, but more realistically Tuesday. (Damn long weekend!)

Anyway I've been trying to find out about aux in on the standard stereo. The dealer told me only ipod adapters where available as a genuine accessory. Are 3rd party aux cables available for the standard stereo? And where to buy it? If someone has installed one, is it easy to do myself?

This is a good question, also, if anyone knows, are their RCA outs etc on the stock head unit of a brand new polo? I should pick my Black GTI with leather and 17" wheels TODAY!

In regards to aux in, check out this link http://www.xcarlink.com.au/

No RCA's, but a line level convertor can be used to run an amp

If in Sydney, give Precision Car Audio as they've worked on a GTI before.

I have a jaycar line level converter spliced into the rear speaker outputs to run my sub. Cost about $20 and works quite nicely. I was going to replace the head unit, but the stock unit matches the dash quite nicely, plus I like the thingo where it changes the volume depending on the speed of the car

Line level convertor isn't quite as good, not as much control over the sub, I'd have to access the amp in the boot to change boost/frequency etc.

oh well, the stock head unit is too cool to remove.

Yeah true. My amp came with a wired remote control for the level, but I very rarely feel the need to adjust anything. I suppose it all depends on what sort of music you listen to and how fussy you are

Hi Sanka and tosspot, welcome to the forums. I pick up my car tomorrow. I was supposed to get it today but the bank and the car sales people dont know how to communicate and give you the runaround just blaming each other.

I picked mine up this arvo, bugged them all day

It looks so good with the 17" wheels, I'll post a pic tomorrow after I take some. After driving it a fair way home, I've fallen further in love with it Not just good looks.

Connects2 is the mob to talk to.

This is the model you need.. CTVVGX004 search eBay/web for it.

They have an AUX in adaptor that plugs into the CD stacker controller. Has two rca outs that connect to a headphone jack for your MP3 player/phone.

I have a Creative Zen V that has a lineout. Gives very good sound through the standard head unit.
