MK4 R32 or Polo GTI, what would you choose? thinking a change...

    Hey guys,

Been on the forum for 5 years now... Polo GTI has been the longest kept car for me... now 5.5 years!
The car is in excellent nick and done about 61000km. Just had now sport grooved front discs with new pads all around with new fluids. Cat bypassed custom exhaust - making close to 140kw at wheels. It's an absolute weapon.

I also own a MK5 Golf GTI which is superchipped and quick - doesn't have as much as grunt as Polo, but given Golf is my daily (DSG) - I want to keep it as stock as possible (but who knows, will be heading to stage 2 next year...? )

I have been contemplating switching Polo GTI to MK4 R32. It's done 80000km and seems to be in good nick. MK4 R32s look awesome even better than MK5s from my opinion. However it has its own fault like water leaks (quite common on MK4s) and this car probably will need a new rotor next year. Small door dings (I can't stand them) from super market, and some little touch up here and there.

    Mechanically apparently very sound.

The price - I will probably need to spend another $2000 (and probably another grand to make it as good condition as my pogo) to get it. I only drive my car in the weekend when I feel like a good blast.

I've done so much to the Polo now - and it's almost perfect the way it is (still need a good set of sport shocks, but with 50 profile and H&R going all ok). I wouldn't do anything to do the car.

What would you do? (money aside). What would you rather have?

    06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

How many km's has the r32 done? Say yours is worth $16000 (provided you find someone who appreciates all the mods). You're effectively getting a MK4 R32 for $18k.. which is pretty damn good!

If its going to be a toy, I'd be very tempted to trade up to the R32... Agree with you on the looks and the sound of the motor with an exhaust is just lovely... even if the polo would spank it in a straight line lol

Done 80000km. 3 door, black. Factory everything + sunroof and all leather seats. No mods except for disconnecting exhaust flap for that noise!

06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

I concur; If I could keep the Polo as my daily and get another toy I would have to say get the R32, purely for the exhaust note

Alas, I have too many toys already

Oh god if I had a Mk IV R32 with ski racks I think I would be in heaven.
Just had 2 weeks in QT in August, the Legacy 2.slow (Liberty 2.0 wagon) was ... um... gutless. Didn't see any R32s though although there were a few Mk III GTIs.
