    Meet my Polo!

Hi folks, by requests I’m opening a topic about my car.

I bought it used in December of 2008 and from that date I start to customize it.

First I remove the dead weight from the engine bay, air filter box, anti-resonator and sound protection hardware.
I install a HKS BOV some gauges and had the car chipped to make the car more fun.

I installed a set of H&R springs, the car stay much more stable and hard!

I had experienced some boost problems, the boost come and goes, and my first thought was a trouble in the engine electronics.
I change the Eaton N75 for an ECS N75 Race. The problem almost vanishes but it continued there. With the N75R I felt a faster response from the car, however it lost power at hi rpm’s. It was clear that valve was not holding boost as the old one.

Reading here in the forum, I learned that the Waste Gate actuator is very soft, so I thought in block the air flow to it. Is when I installed an industrial Festo’s air flow controller. The results were impressive. The boost stay fixed, I could completely block the air to the N75 valve and the turbo still loose boost at hi rpm’s, keeping it safe, proving it is a soft WG actuator.

After that I build a complete exhaust with recycled and used parts!
3” Downpipe to the catalyst, after the catalyst to the end 2,5”.
Again the results were impressive, the feeling is I had the car chipped again. The boost came faster and higher, reaching 1,5 bar and keeping it hi for a longer time then usual.

The next day I install a Moroso breather valve, the engine fumes and oil vapors they are not going to the TIP anymore, now they are going to the exhaust. No more oil to the intercooler.

Today I change the rims, I installed a set of Center Line’s Storm wheels. They are 18x7. I’m using Yokohama Parada 215/35.

My future ideas are a FMIC, and TIP, both from Forge and a turbo upgrade.
I already have the turbo, it is a k04-25 CHRA, the compressor inducer is 5mm larger then k04-01, it is assembled in the k04-01 housings. I hope it works!

My next challenge will be the electronics for this new turbo. I found an APR dealer here um Brazil, but he claims the APR software is not going to work in my ECU because it is already chipped. Great!

    Looks good!
Although I reckon that unprotected pod filter will be hurting your performance quite a bit. Possibly more than the stock air intake. Those things really suffer from heatsoak when they are just sitting open in the engine bay.

yeah i agree. the intake hose does run to the filter between the battery and the engine to get sufficient cold air but there does need to be some sort of heat shield put between the pod and engine.

You have to find in Australia a Festo dealer. www.festo.com

It is a manual valve. Thru the picture you can see a knob over it. There I control the air flow. But not the pressure! You have to understand that the WG actuator works with pressure, the boost’s pressure open it. Controlling the flow I can retard the action of the pressure in the actuator.
The problem I think it is, is a lot of pressure in the wrong time.

If you have a boost gauge, do a test. Disconnect the hose leaving the N75 to the WG actuator. Go for a ride. Go slow first. Make sure it won’t over boost.
