well Troy and I had a crack at installing the splitter today. Heres the fruits of our labour.
done!
i'll like gareth's method - pay someone else my front bumper is aftermarket anyway so there aren't any mounting points or slots like the standard bumper.
thanks mate.

Looks good Tim!
Was the effort much the same as the Mk4 writeup?

oops ive edited my post to fix the pic! I shouldnt type stuff on car forums whilst chatting to people on the phone
The install was pretty simple so long as your game to take the front bumper off. You would probably do it without but I dont think it would be a wise move unless you have a hoist perhaps.
On the polo the lip pretty much just gets screwed into the bottom of the current lip as the setup on the polo is a bit different to the mk4s undertray.
We kept the posts in the centre of the lip quite long because we wanted to go for that gaping mouth kinda look.
Ive taken a few more pics ill post them up in a sec to give you an idea of how it all went together.

It was kind of fun, and the satisfaction you get when you have finished and stand back and see how good it looks
MODS- TOO MANY
We trimmed down the posts just a little bit. You will have to get the angle right if you want it to sit flush. Id leave the final trimming till last.
We then drilled a hole at the key points along the spoiler that we thought it would require securing. Then we carefully measured the centre of the bumper and the centre of the lip and secured the two front bolts. We chose to use some small bolts with a spring washer and a nut on the inner side. Nicer than using self tapping screws or something equally agricultural.
Once the lip is tentatively secured by the two 1st bolts you can see how the curvature actually isnt too bad a match for the polo bumper. It is a tad too long though.
Next we just worked our way along one side of the bumper carefully drilling small holes at the key points that will help the splitter to follow.
It was pretty easy to lop the ends off with a dremel. Every serious DIYer needs to own one! You need to do it carefully though as you want to cut the plastic not melt it. We then finished the edges with fine sand paper.
All finished!
I think the key thing to remember whilst doing it all is
Measure twice, cut/drill once
that looks awesome mate. i didn't think the polo front would require a heat gun as it is not as square as the mk4's. looking forward to getting this on!

It'll be up on the hoist for me ... although if someone has instructions on how to get the bumper off, I might try it
If you shoot me through an email to tim@dubaddiction.com.au i can dig up a PDF on how to remove the bumper if you like.
