True, but I'm glad I managed to suss a few things out before I got it all back together.

I've got a correction to make. A few posts ago I mentioned how VW had told me that the standard replacement thermostat is a 83/102 unit. Well today I was down there picking up a new radiator and PCV and asked them to check again on the spec and it is in fact an 87/102 degree. There was no optional 83 degree one in the system or any other possibility so what they told me previously was definitely a mistake and what VW sell does line up exactly with the aftermarket ones recommended for our car by dayco/tridon that are 190 farenheit opening.
