    I assume it goes into that port for a sender. Thats vacant on our car isn't it? - i'll have to have a squiz today
    The little plug on top of the filter mount could be used. Pretty sure that's where my Oil pressure gauge runs from.

    I honestly think you've spent excess time on this Sam.

    Fit an oil cooler and delete the heat exchanger. Don't go mad with the size of the oil radiator.

    True, but I'm glad I managed to suss a few things out before I got it all back together.

    I've got a correction to make. A few posts ago I mentioned how VW had told me that the standard replacement thermostat is a 83/102 unit. Well today I was down there picking up a new radiator and PCV and asked them to check again on the spec and it is in fact an 87/102 degree. There was no optional 83 degree one in the system or any other possibility so what they told me previously was definitely a mistake and what VW sell does line up exactly with the aftermarket ones recommended for our car by dayco/tridon that are 190 farenheit opening.
