Yeah should flow quite well I think.
Yup, just to try and maximise the amount of flow I can get through that section where it feeds the CAI.

Some more progress and photos. Got the throttle body side of the intercooler piping done this week, so once that was in and mounted nicely, I could pull it back out along with the intake manifold to be stripped apart, cleaned and be sent off to the powder coaters this week.

I ended up ordering some supertech exhaust valves which will arrive next week and then be sent straight to the engine builder to install then in the new head.

With any luck I think I'll get the engine back in the coming weeks to start reassembling it and then pull the other engine out and new one can go in to check how everything is going to fit

Does the space between the front bar and the condenser / radiator get narrower from the left side to the right ? (I see you've trimmed the bar to fit what looks like a 75mm thick intercooler)

Yes, if you ever look down on it from the top, the whole radiator and aircon core assembly doesn't actually sit square to the crash bar, it's slightly diagonal which means the driver side sits closer to the crash bar. Also being that the end tank of the aircon core sits on the drivers side along with the some solid lines, it means you have less room to work with on that side. If you deleted the air con completely you would have loads of room to work with but that wasn't something I was prepared to compromise on with the way QLD heat gets.

Good to know that it wasn't just my car (thought maybe that it had been in a bad smash). I ended up mounting my 75mm thick cooler way to the left side as i didn't want to cut the crash bar.

Some good progress on Sunday that just passed. Should get the new head and bottom end this week then start reassembling it on the stand and bolting the new bits on. Also got some new funny plates on layby for when it's back on the road. 25WHP TDI

Good to see it coming along mate. You said you ended up going for supertech exhaust valves. Will you run OE intake valves, or supertech inlet too? Which springs did you decide on?

Thanks mate. I just did the exhaust valves. Intake valves and springs all round being used. The springs are only required if you want high revs past 7500 to prevent valve float and stock intake valves are good for pretty massive power.

Got my head and bottom end back last week so I spent part of Sunday starting to bolt stuff back together and test fitted the turbo/manifold (turbo needs to be clocked nearly 180 degrees). Came to a stop when I found out the bolt that the timing roller sits on is actually 10mm in the AJL head vs 8mm in the BJX head so luckily Gav is sending me a special reducing stud this week so I can continue on. Also Dropped some bits off to the powder coaters today to have them done before this weekend then will crack on with some more install work.
