One more snippet of the tip looks like with a single 3" piece.

After trying a couple things to try and remove the crunching gearbox first to second and and ocassically second to 3rd if I change quickly, I've decided to give the Redline Shockproof oil, heard plenty of good review including a few close mates running it. I was originally going to run a 50/50 mix with the MT90 as I had 1 litre of that already but when the shop I bought the oil off stuffed up and sent me a 1 Gallon bottle instead of a 1 Quart bottle, I decided to go all shockproof. Winning! It's like nothing I've seen before, smells like mint and is Aqua in colour, and one of the only oils on the market both GL4 and GL5 approved.

I'll report back after a few hundred kms have passed and see how it's going.

Happy to report after the oil change and wearing it in a few hundred kms, the crunching has not occurred under the same conditions it was before the change. Amazing what simply changing the oil can do. Also set the gearbox linkages after testing, figured I may aswell while I had the airbox out to sus out the pod in a box I'll be doing this week. Pod was bought this weekend and have the silicone elbow on its way, hopefully here early this week. Looking forward to seeing the difference it makes, if any.

Thanks to Gav for the pdf to guide me through the gearbox linkage settings and info on making the pod in a box

I'm eager to see and hear how the intake looks and performs once you're done. Contemplating it myself. Your car is coming along nicely!

Thanks mate! As soon as it's done and I get some testing done I'll post some pics and let you know how it went.

Hopefully when I catch up with Gav next we can take a log and compare the stock filter vs pod in a box. But by then I could also have a new TIP on too.

Ended up getting the Pod on yesterday but held of posting until I got to get a few drives in. I did mine slightly different to Gavs, with the jubilee clip on the outside of the box instead of inside, just means Gavs way is more inconspicuous but either way works. Overall didn't take to long to do, about 90 minutes total.

After testing it definitely feels more responsive in any gear I choose and feels like it holds boost a little longer before starting to die off, although its hard to tell just how much the pod actually did because of the cooler weather the last couple days. Tonight the car felt the best it ever has, but also has been one of the coolest days on the Coast so far this year.

Either way I do feel like it has made a small difference, but all those small differences add up and my old filter was looking sad anyways so it was a win-win situation

Also on its way is my new TIP (thanks to Gav for the link). Should be here in a couple weeks, another small gain hopefully!

Got the Forge style TIP on today after receiving it early this week. Install wasn't really anywhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Only thing I didn't realise until installing was that the one I bought and linked above doesn't have the outlet piece sticking out for the lower hose to slide onto, instead I had to use a male to male brass connector to join the two, but again nothing major.

First impressions, not really noticeable at low rpm at all, but from 4500-6500rpm you definitely notice it holds its power stronger and longer. Pretty happy with the difference it has made, and paired with the Pod in a box seems to really work well together. For the price, I'd really recommend it.

Got a few pics along the way for anyone interested, also a side by side of the new vs the old

Good work Louis. Yeah if removing the TIP is any indication of getting it back on, it really is a straight forward job hey. Hopefully I don't eat these words next weekend... Out of curiosity, did you check your turbo for any play in the compressor wheel while it was accessible?

Thanks matey! Yeah I honestly didn't find it all that bad, access was a little bit tight in spots but nothing worse then other parts of the car.

Funnily enough the first thing I checked was shaft play, and the was none at all so that's a plus

I still say the TIP is a pita, but it mainly was just the access really.. That and the fact that all my hoses seem to be heat shrunk in place.

I remember reading you did the SAI delete too Louis, so that probably helps free up a bit of room. Might have a crack at that myself one day.

Keep up the good work mate, interested to hear what happens next
