Shouldnt this problem be vw's problem?

And they do a full recall and replace them all....

Yes they do but they still come loose mate!
Im trying to source some aircraft bolts at the moment. As i mentioned back in the piece we had the same thing in th 90s with turbo diesel Audis . There is som much expansion and contraction happening there. I know not an excuse as i dont think it happen to other makes, although i heard recently a customer had there xr6 ute turbo come loose!!!
Go figure. Gotta b a way

OK ... I'm pleased (& somewhat embarrassed ) to report that it is NOT my turbo making these horrible noises ... it's my aircon. Jimmymac had a look at it today and we went out for a test run. He says probably the "TX" valve or the compressor ... but at least it's not my turbo.

I'll still happily coordinate our documentation of loose turbo bolts and see what we can do about these in the long term ... so if anyone else out there is having these problems ... please post to this thread.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Firstly great to have met you Dave and dont be embarrassed about that noise mate, it is a scary noise if u havent heard it before. Anyway i have another idea about locking the bolts. What about a tab washer between the bolts??? This was an effective way of locking back in the day and we all know the oldies are the goodies!!! Meanwhile i have emailed my old foreman mate at Boeing to source some hight temp bolts!!!!
    Keep yas posted!

    Hi Guys,

Just having a peek in here. I was wondering what the outcome of the new bolts were?

    Didz,

We still have not sourced the correct size inconel bolts (Jimmy Mac was working on it).

Our little Polo hardly does any miles, but it withstood the last brutal 4 hour trackday with no problem.

Boys, just an update - unfortunately ours didnt hold again (after another track day) - seems to hold OK on the street, but gets hammered on the track.

The K03 is back on & al factory parts now, so we are about to lose our test unit
