An update after attacking this yesterday...

    Was a tricky job, so thought I'd share a few novice notes;
    - The heatshield is held on by 2 13mm bolts behind the engine, bolts go through the heatshield into the back of the block. The collar over the large turbo hard pipe (1st section of boost piping) can be removed to give better movement to the heatshield, but is a pain to get off. The other sits up against the TIP.
    - New gasket wasn't too difficult to get in, old one was warped but in reasonable condition.
    - Encouraging the turbo and manifold to line up again was a 2 man job. Some rocking of the exhaust and engine helped.
    - I had removed the airbox, front strut brace, hard line attached to the rear of the engine and don't have any VAC stuff in top of the engine, removing all of these were important for access.

Thanks to Gav for the bits.

No worries Ben. Been doing a few turbo removal/installs recently got a handful of spares.

Back already (damn you CC for your extra power, pushing the new bolts out extra quick).

That wasn't long, maybe look into that locking tab kit that Anthony bought. Not sure where it came from though.

I don't think its going to fit, there is a ridge between the 2 bolts furthest from the block and the one that was closest. I expect I'd have to lift the engine to fit it, replacing the gasket and bolts was a big job for me.

Been reading about nord-lock washers. Wonder if that would help (designed for vibration environments, not high temp)

Hobsons are the distributors. Give their sales dept a ring & ask for some samples for the "prototype you are working on". Otherwise I think the minimum buy qty is 200.

Blackwoods & Coventry Fasteners are suppliers

    Hoyhoy.

This works & has even held for several track days.
I did do some other tweaking as well.

    Nice Eddy!

If I had the tools, thats the ultimate answer. Done with the engine in place from above?

Thanks for the photo as well, shows those horrible raised sections between the bolts that make the 034 thing.

Eddy, what do you think about the theory of the Nord lock ones? not sure if the theory works with all the heat / expansion.

    Hoyhoy.

Engine in place, Got someone in to weld.
Nord lock washers may be O.K., me don't know.
The extra tweaking I done was to modify the original & add an extra turbo to engine bracket with a little bit of pressure to hold the turbo & down pipe up better.
Have now done more to improve this set-up while I'm trying to overcome heat problems.

Edd's lastest mod. list. - Page 4,,, I done the linishing mainly because of where the turbo bolts up to the exhaust manifold
it was shaped a bit like a saucer.

To Improve Me Polo. - Page 3,, This explains how easy it is to remove the welded turbo bolts.
