Oh nice, so these are 2 pot calipers?
The ones you have on now (TT?) are only single pot?

On the rear only bud. Have the Audi TT 256mm upgrade. On the front's just had a slotted 288mm rotor with pads and braided lines. It's been a great upgrade as if balances out the terrible bias the Polo came with. But want something a little better now that things are getting more serious.

As above Clay and I think they include both pistons on both sides so they're technically 4 pots.

Interested to see how these work out for you with the stock size rotors.
I've kept the stock size rotors on mine in case I want to put 15 inch rims with higher profile street/drag tyres to put it down the 1/4 mile.
Not sure if my standard calipers are going to cope with the engine output.
Would appreciate it if you keep us updated on how they perform.

Sorry for the confusion - I'm actually going to a 312mm rotor with the Brembo's. We were just wondering if a set of carriers can be made to accommodate the stock 288mm rotors. As the original thread Sam started called BRAAAAKES IIRC, was talking about the Porsche calipers I don't think the custom carriers I have for these Brembo's will help as they're different.

So you're focusing on drags mainly? (Hear that Jason, better get cracking on some more power I have a feeling the 13 second barrier is about to be history!!)

I'm not sure if the stock calipers will fit under 15's so will be interesting to see. However any Brembo or Porsche calipers are bigger than stock so I think you may be out of luck with 15's. I know Wilwood make a nice set for the MK4 Golf that seem to be a little smaller than the others that might help.

Can't wait to see your Polo finished!

Mate, like all our Polo's, I don't think they're ever finished. Though it should be back on the road in couple of weeks.
Really is more a tough street build rather than a drag car. May do some circuit work as well.
Lots of good info on brakes.
Keep us updated. Pics when they're done.

So true! It's going to be a loooong two weeks

Ok tonight I am officially thanking God! My guess work with the TDI third brake light seems to be a winner.

But first this little beauty arrived

Should keep the rear end nice and planted

So back to the rear hatch. First pulled out the trim to reveal three bolts that hold the brake light in

Then used the old trusty hair dryer on one of the ends of the GTI spoiler then before you know it it popped off to reveal what I was praying for

a cavity that matched the shape of the TDI brake light

Turns out there are just two dollops of glue on either end. Not really sure how to go about getting it off actually.

Then the brake light test fit and wallah!!!

Even the wire plug fits and light actually works.

So took a gamble also with the wing. The new time attack rules for Club Sprint say the rear spoiler can't be higher than the highest point of the horizontal roof line even for hatchbacks. So luckily the polo's roof line slopes away considerably from the highest point near the front to the tail gate at the rear. About 5" or so. This leaves room for a low profile spoiler only and it took me forever to find one and even then it's a hybrid. The size of the mounting feet the width of the entire wing, the height of the wing and width of the pedestals all had to be accounted for. And lucking for me it all seems to be spot on so far. Starting with the mounting feet actually fitting on the tailgate!

So the wing should be fitted by next happy laps then.
Will be interested to hear how it performs as you were saying the rear end gets a bit light on out there.

Interested in where you got this. Is there a source in Oz, or did you have to buy fom overseas?

    Many thanks.
