Ok my bad, but there would be import duty on this, plus it does not include the CC Phase 3 software. Still over 200kw at the wheels.... maybe I'll start saving as I'm going over to the uk later this year.

Before everyone gets excited this kit costs 2628 pounds

Is this the turbo you bought??
    Thanks a lot!

I ended up just getting the straight forward K04-001 because I got a really good price for a new one on ebay. Please keep in mind I have been buying bits and pieces over time that I have had to budget for and usually looked to the USA for them as well because our dollar is stronger. Back up to 86c today infact.

Also quick update, I will have a new type of TBD which will be in transit very soon And Jimmy has my new manifold and Turbo bolts ATM and is devising a permanent fix to the loosening problem!

why would anyone spend that when they can just buy a "disco potato" for a lot less?......... oh and i read closer its actually a lil cheeper if you supply the turbo but thats still a huge mark up.

Well it seems the Wavetrac TBD I was going to go with doesn't cater for the later model MK4 Golfs, so Peloquin it is. Should have ordered by the end of the month unfortunately, just waiting for the seller to get it in stock. So looks like I will get the turbo, manifold (which is getting HPC coated ATM)injectors, MAF, FPR and pump put in first then tune it all at the same time. Then get the TBD and clutch kit put in next to save some money.

    Yeah, here is some info taken from the website;

A significant step up in its temperature handling capabilities is HiPerCoat™ Extreme coating. Specifically designed for applications such as turbochargers where substrate temperatures can exceed 1300 degrees Celsius, in black only the coatings help maintain exhaust gas temperatures, increase flow velocity, aid cylinder scavenging and assist in preventing damage to hoses, belts and wiring harnesses.

Track testing has shown as much as a 30% reduction in underbonnet ambient temperatures and a 50% reduction in component skin temperature. HiPerCoat™ Extreme achieves this by creating a thermal barrier that retains heat, which in turbocharged applications assists to increase turbo boost and spool-up. Which is why today's leading CART, NASCAR, IMSA, and F-1 teams use HPC's HiPerCoat™ Extreme process.

i've got my grill also from FK automotive.
have to say, the red line is not on it so i used my original one and make it fit.
and the grill itself does not fit 100% on my car.
the underside of the grill does not fit well on the bumper.
and i could not get the grill to fit unless i drilled away the round plastic thing in the middle that holds the stock VW logo.
do you also have that problem?

Its a really high quality thermal coating. It basically insulates the hot pipework, thus lowering engine bay temps. Hot gasses also flow faster too.

One thing: It also causes so much heat to be retained in the metal that it leads to cracking exhausts and exhaust housings on your turbo, much the same way fibreglass wrap does.

Not for street car use as far as i'm concerned, unless you consider exhaust parts a consumable item.

this has also been my observed experience with such things. Much like turbo beanies. There is some obvious validity in it, but there's also an added expense/risk associated to the benefits it brings.

There are different levels of coating available on the market depending on your application. In this case I am getting the lower end coating more suited to my application and I am only getting the exhaust manifold done which is a solid piece of manufacturing. This process is more the 10 years old and has been a tried and proven application my previous projects with no worries.

PS I guess only time will tell with this absolutely insane Polo GTI from the UK
