Out with the old and in with the new.
Thanks Junior again for organising the GB for the engine mounts. They were fairly straight forward to swap over. Just had to get the order of which bolts to do up first to get the gearbox mounts holes to line up.
Had to head over to Gav's for the other side for use of his extra long socket extension, but was in in 10 mins or so.
Drove around for a few days in between the two mounts going in so first impressions of just having the gearbox mount in were great. Only really felt some vibration in the cabin on cold start up but could already feel better throttle responsiveness. Then the other side went in last night and let me just say "HOLY VIBRATIONS BATMAN" I'm going to start charging the ladies $20 for a quick spin around the block if you know what I mean
These are not for the comfort orientated. On the long drive home from Gav's I think I could actually hear my eyeballs rattling around in their sockets. And the faster you go the worse it got. I did however ask for the race spec mounts. They loosened up a rather annoying rattle coming from behind one of the spring loaded rubber stoppers that makes contact with the glove box lid when you close it
The good news is the mounts must have settled in overnight because the vibrations on the way to work this morning were no where near as bad. And I suspect that will dissipate even more over time.
Now for the good stuff. Power delivery and throttle responsiveness has improved out of sight. So much more aggressive now out of the blocks and reduced power hesitation when planting hard mid corner. A bit more of an NA feel now. Torque steer is marginally increased though. But a very worth while performance mod
So off to the track for the first time this Saturday to see how the new goodies behave;
Brakes
Wing
Camber plates now running 2 degrees of neg
and mounts.
Bigger injectors are on the way so the turbo will be going on very soon Gav is taking to the hotside of the turbo for me with his die grinder to take off the lip seen here at the top of the exhaust inlet
The lip is said to cause boost creep on ko3s hybrids and getting rid of it will also effectively keep egt's down.
