Who are you going to get to roll your rims or will you do it yourself? The KU36's are meant to be pretty average in the wet, FYI.
    Thanks.

At this stage, I'll get the KU36 and then see how it goes under B8's & 35mm H&R's. If there is scrubbing, I'll have Nelson from http://www.sydneyguardrolling.com.au

I've heard many good reviews about him.

I don't think the 215/45/17 will scrub, so I may not need to roll the guards.

You are correct Sir! No scrubbing at all with this set up but please note I have had my guards slightly rolled but nothing major. Infact I will be moving to 235/40R17's if the fitment goes well.

Main reasons for this are the Goodyears are a very hard compound tyre to begin with so you need to get some heat in them even for a street tyre before they really perform and even then from a standing start you don't get that really grippy feel you do from sticky rubber. Then I lost a heap of side wall height because now the're stretched over an extra inch, which also means the ride comfort and rim protection went out the window as I've been advised not to run anything less than 38psi to protect the light weight rims from pot hole damage etc. And 38 psi is a harsh ride combined with the loss of side wall height!

PS I love the superleggera's, are you happy with them??
i have the rims for about 2 weeks,
they do have a bit paint damage and i'm planning to respray them in antracite grey or just in black.
bought them from a guy who have had them under a Golf IV, so there are 225/45/17 tyres on the wheels.
to big and useless on my GTI.
so i first need to get those tyres off, paint the wheels and get other tyres in 215/40/17 or 205/40/17.
thats why oi wanted to know if you don't have any problems running 215 tyres on 8j wheels whit offset of ET35
so thx for the answer mate!

i am happy with the wheels but they haven't been under the polo yet so i will let you know if i fitted them!

So last weekend the Devil had a visit to Jimmy's and as always he didn't disappoint! Check out his wizardry with the battery fuses and wiring left astray after the install of the new battery.

I wasn't quite sure at first why he asked if I still had the old plastic battery housing the fuses slid into. And here is the result.

So now it all is completely secure by the left hand side of the battery and looks EOM to boot!

While he was in there trying to make the catch can fit (with a little luck some different piping than the golf piping it came with will see a nice end result) he installed the aluminium bushes and also put in some colder NKG BKR7EKT plugs. Shifting is now more precise especially during more spirited driving!

Also the custom centre caps finally arrived after 2 months.....Ebay

Also for those with a more aggressively tuned Polo and a Forge DV this will be one of the bang for buck performance mod you will do! So the CC phase 2 tune lifted the peak boost level to 19.2psi (as recorded at the last dyno day) and settles down around
18psi (boost levels I thought were associated with that tune.) Then I got my hands on the spring kit courtsey of Jimmy which comprises of different rated DV springs.

    From the Forge website;

Now you can fine tune your Blow Off/Diverter Valve to the exact needs of your engine with this complete tuning kit.

Your valve tuning kit you will find four springs and three spacers.

The strongest spring is the red, followed by the blue, yellow and finally the green which is the weakest. The spacers enable you to fine tune the settings between two spring tensions if required.

We normally supply our valves, unless requested differently, with a spring that will match the tension of the manufacturer’s original fitment valve. However, as many owners undertake tuning modifications some may wish to re-tune the valve characteristics to suit a given application.

If you are finding that the valve is dumping more than required or you are loosing boost pressure it is normally an indication that a stronger spring is required. Conversely if the valve is failing to dump it may be necessary to install a weaker spring. If during this tuning of your valve you are faced for example with the red spring being to strong and the blue spring to weak, you can add the spacers to the blue spring to increase the tension by small increments, thus achieving a setting between the red and blue springs.

    Valve Spring color coding

    Green - 5-15 PSI
    Yellow - 15-23 PSI
    Blue - 23-30 PSI
    Red - 30 + PSI

So I tried the yellow and holy crap what a difference. So now on full boost my gauge peaks at just over 22psi and the car is pulling harder and holding boost longer! Can't wait for the next dyno day to confirm everything.

The battery looks good! That's my next upgrade - to get ligher battery (probably odyssey for me).
I also have yellow spring for my Forge - it makes about 22-23PSI on peak which holds the boost above 20psi usually. This is Stage 2 REVO tune with 4 bar fuel pressure regulator. I am thinking that I might put one shim in to get between yellow and blue... blue might be too much for me.. I have all 4 springs and couple of shims
    06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

So you're right on the cusp then. Are you going to add both shims?

    Nicely done as per ususal.

With the smaller battery is there any room to pipe in air from the foglight area to the airbox?

No not yet... haven't had time to do anything to the car. So just yellow springs and no shims yet...

Nelson does an awesome job,he did my commodore and results were A+++++++

    Dyno day MKII

Went to another of Jimmy's dyno days at EFI today. Great day as usual with a great mix of motors.

    Here are my results

The top graphs are the last dyno day where the air temp was only 1 degree hotter.

The only difference in mods since the first day are the uprated spring in the Forge DV and the light weight rims. With those I saw a 13.2 jump in HP Over the moon considering still running with the Ko3 and Forge intercooler.
