    Hey Peter,

Cud u ask the GF if theres anything I can do if I didnt send letter back to contest an infringement in time ?

I misread the infringment and sent it back a week after it needed to be in, thought it needed to be in by the payment date and now I face six month suspension with no way to work except illegally thanks to some crazy law that says if I don't send the letter in on time that's, that ! I'm fked.

So, I can either drive illegally or find another job. Awesome choices, when the law is supposed to be innocent until proven otherwise. HAH.

    Just adding something.

My previous insurer was RACQ, and when I signed up with them I told them about a suspension i was coming off (pts + disqualified driving) which they didn't seem to mind about, about 2 years after I signed up i had went onto good behaviour and didn't think much about it. I got through that period and had a claim related to flood waters, which I didn't claim as it wasn't worth it excess wise.

Anyway during the process of the claim they found out that I went onto good behaviour and I didn't tell them I went onto good behaviour. They then refused to renew my insurance and I was forced to change to a new insurance company (NMRA which was cheaper).

I'm not sure if they would have paid out had I actually had an accident.

Anyway, morale of the story... loss, suspension and even good driving periods, make sure you tell your insurance company... they don't care, but they do care if you don't tell them.

(if this isn’t 100% coherent i just had wisdom teeth out and on alot of pain killers and feel a little dopey sry.)

Well i asked (now ex) GF but she had no idea - she is in general duties and they know little about those sort of technicalities.

I would think you will need some sort of legal advice.

You may need to invent a reason as to why it was sent in late - if it is really, really important (and it sounds like it is) I'd be looking at something like submitting a stat dec stating that you were depressed or in some way mentally not with it at the time and you therefore missunderstood what was required.

A doctors certificate would assist your cause which is probably not possible unless you have a doctor who could backdate a certificate.

Mental issues will go a long way to getting you off things where the govt is concerned.

Yah, I do have some ground there but will seek legal advice first, not sure they are obliged to listen though !!

    Thanks !

I lost all of my points in one foul swoop....not that I had many left. 160 in a 100 zone - instant loss of license for 6 months. Pretty stupid I know, 2am on a monday on a country road wanting to get some sleep before work is the only excuse I have 12 months on P's, so now I have to be very careful until February or I am done!

I haven't been caught out yet (probably due to my slow ass corolla daily) but the major issue i have is the lack of speed signs.

Half of the roads have no speed signs on them unless you turn on from a major intersection and even then you are too busy trying not to get run into from all the idiots they give licences to today.

The other day my mate got done for driving in a T3 lane near Kelvin Grove with only 2 people in the car.
They are cracking down on it now and have been there for the last 3 week on Thursday mornings.
As if driving in a T3 lane is dangerous or even worth blitzing.

Then the other night I was driving another mate home after work since his car was stolen from the train station and i got pulled over.
The police asked for my licence and his (even though he was only a passenger) and then proceeded to question us about why we were driving around so late (10:30pm) and where we were going and if we had been doing anything illegal or ever had.

It's just getting crazy how much they are doing to try and catch you now, rather than actually fixing the real problems.

Man all that is overkill and unneccessary unless....something happened that night that the police are trying to keep low key whilst finding the offender?

I still have no idea why they were so agro.

Made me produce licence and rego papers, asked what insurance i had and then gave my passenger the once over.
Must have just had a rough day but i was nice as pie to them and they let me go with a warning to make sure to stay on track (even though i hadn't done anything wrong)
