Yes - next year - how can anyone last 3yrs on 12 points?

It is far more dangerous driving around on your last points paranoid and watching your speedos every move rather than the road than doing 70-80 in a 60 zone.

No it isn't. Speeding reduces your reaction time and distance.

I'd bet my reaction time/distance is better at 75kmh and watching only the cars around me than paranoidly looking at the speedo every few seconds and concentrating on that rarther than actually driving. Or even watching the speedo for a good second or two and braking at a change of 80 to 60 zone - a fav area for cops.

No one condones breaking the law but I do agree with Peter regarding reaction time. The faster you're going the more aware you are of your surroundings. The only thing which increases is your breaking distance which no one can disagree with.
    Cheers,

Okay so it's not just me that struggles keeping their car within the speed limit the slightest twitch and you're 20k over the limit, I think I have one fine coming through the mail been 2 weeks so hopefully I got away, but definitely got flashed, or the guy going in the opposite direction did.

Exactly - that's what buggered me - a tiny bit of pressure on the go pedal at the wrong time and you've done 3 or 4 points

And mine's standard! You chipped guys are disciplined or lucky!

    So true.

What I hate the most is... it's not dependant on cars. My brakes are a hell of a lot better than many crappy cars, yet I have to go the same speed due to reaction time and 'stopping distances' that govern speed limits.

    The law is total

I can't remember who first put this up ... but it gets me everytime:

"Legal speed limits ... imposed just 1 kilometer under the likely death impact speed - Yeah right" (Remember ... every 'K' over is a killer.)

    lol, love it.

so if I get hit by a car in a 100 zone I won't die unless they are doing 101 or over?
