    Larger wheels

    Hi all,

I have a 1999 A03 (thats the correct way to designate it isn't it?). I recently had a new transmission fitted which would not have been the right one as it didnt fit exactly and needed a few modifications but no matter.. it works and im happy.

However i think it must be a different ratio than the DXE that came out of it as it revs a little highter on the fwy than I would like (and consume fuel i dare say). One way i can think to put on larger wheels.

Does anyone have experience with the a03 and larger wheels? Im guesing 17's or so would be the largest that would be possible to try and increase the rolling diameter.

Im not lookin for any of these 'look at me' sort of wheels, just something low key and not over the top

    Cheers,
    Aaron

If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

the problem is mate, if you start going larger wheels for the purpose of a larger rolling diameter, your speedo will be way out of whack... and that my friend, is not legal.

17's fit nicely , 18's fit to but are prown to rim damage soon as you hit any kind of pot hole (big or small) which can also lead to damaged tyres as well all in all for a good ride 17's are definatly the go.

On the older Polo's, I think 16in is the largest legal size you can go.

if you want a larger rolling diameter, just keep the same wheels and get a larger profile tyre.
