The first car i had that automatically turned on the rear wiper in reverse was a 99 Land Rover Freelander. that was about the only thing good about the car, that plus i got real good value from my RACV membership that year.

I dont get the only 1 reversing light thing, but if i had $1 for every time someone told me that i have left my headlights on id be a very rich man.

I do the swedish thing and drive with dipped mains and front fogs on during the day, prefer to be seen by some of the amazing drivers around.

i think most of the polo gti's in australia were built in spain cos the south african built ones are all 5 door

the only 3 door polo's we have here are the tdi's - so i dont think the three door gti's come from here - would upset a lot of local guys cos a lot of them would have wanted the three door version with a petrol engine vs the diesel

My 03 Golf GTI doesn't do this, I tested it over the weekend. Might be a VAG-COM setting which can be activated / deactivated?

LOL at the Mk V's only having 1 reverse light. Surely it wouldn't have been so hard to fit two like a Mk IV. The fog light is mounted on both sides as well but only one globe depending on which side you drive! Clever

Pfft.... I think even Dunnydoor wagons have had this feature for a few generations now... did you know the VW also puts the ventilation into recirculation so the exhaust won't waft in when you reverse?

    yep....and its been said!

ok...well i didn't know of this feature previously and I apologise for not testing every single car on the market to find out whether they also have it. it seems as though I'm getting hammered for starting this thread so I'll be the one to happily end it.

    Cheers!
