Ive got the MkIV gti back, and the missus has a Polo Gti now!

Just got rid of my XR6T... weapon of an engine, ****e suspension and gearbox. And chewed fuel big time.

So, her turn for a new car which means i get the Golf Gti back, and bought her a Polo Gti. Had 35k on it, standard. Although, i am thinking it either has a muffler cut out or something cause it does have a nice exhaust note. Does this sound normal?

Have to say totally different car to the MkIV... much nicer engine and better power delivery. Still, not a 250kw XR6 but it is nicer to drive thats for sure.

I think the Polo GTI has a nice sounding exhaust note as standard. Its not too full on, but it has a nice burble to it too.

yeah thats normal mate. the polo GTI's get a really nice exhaust burble, especially when they are warmed up. i have the APR chip and my exhaust sounds awesome, and its quite loud when its running hot.

I'd rather walk than drive a Falcon/Commodore (or any variation).

The stock exhaust is a very nice sounding exhaust.

the exhaust is a lot louder than it seems as my friends tell me that it is quite deep from the outside of the vehicle. I think being inside the vehicle doesnt reflect how loud it actually is. (someone correct me if im wrong)

I noticed that after making a small change to a K&N panel filter it sounds even nicer..more deeper and slightly louder

dont mean to hijack this thread but once again can others that have a chipped car shed some light on the exhaust note? (thanks to -pologti- for your answer on another thread!)

I'd like to know this too. Particulary at idle. If you had two Polo GTIs side by side, one stock and the other chipped, could you pick out just by listening which one was chipped?

No audible difference in the idling noise.

Although once your driving, you can definately hear the turbocharger more.
