    Bit of an update..
I've decided to put my hazard/tyre/esc buttons and a head unit in behind the iPad so
It will all be coming back out and redone.

I'm roughing it up with balser wood then I'll glass it in. I have to step the panel back 45mm to clear the head unit but because it's a mechless unit it's shorter than usual so it will be fine.. Should work out well.

Managed to get a much nicer peel this time by warming up the can in hot water and spraying a heavy wet coat on the last coat.

Just got to plastidip the iPad area and in the new part and it's all done..

    Great work very talented.

Can I ask why you did not use the ipad mini which is much smaller and may have fitted in without needing to loose your vents and hazards etc?

Is it possible you could do this for the mk5 golf and then sell these on as I am sure you would do very well selling them?

Also any details on the wiring and how you connect up the obd2 unit to view torque app settings but also connect up to the amp as Im very interested in this and you will need to keep the ipad charged as well with a permanent supply?

    Thanks

Hi mate, yeah I used this iPad because it was just laying around and I wanted to do it on the cheap. And now I have all my buttons set behind the iPad so it works out well.
Wasn't too fussed about the vents because the side ones are still there.

The golf would most likely work better as everything's a little bit bigger and especially with an iPad mini..

As for the power supply, my iPad has the old charger so I didn't integrate it. I'll by an iPad 4 eventually that is the same size and has the new lightning bolt charger. So once that is done I will be connected to the head unit via usb permanently and Bluetooth will be left free for the obd dongle.

Yeah I could probably make up a pretty good one as this was rushed and thrown together with bits laying around.

Another good thing about it is it's completely plug and play because I got the ISO cables for the head unit it takes about 5 minutes to pull the old one out and plug this straight in..

I'll have a look on eBay and see if I can find a mk5 dash piece to play around with.

Oh yeah forgot to say, I'm not using a Bluetooth amp anymore. I got a song Bluetooth head unit so I can have radio and have access to Rca's. Picked it up for $75 like new and the amp was $200 so it made sense. Cheers.
