    The part that is made from flimsy plastic is like that because it doesn't need to be strong. Closer to the turbo where it turns quite sharply and gets smaller is where the pressure is.

    'Collapse' doesn't necessarily mean it's blocking off, just slight movement.

    I can see your point. I suppose there are prons & cons with different materials. The point I was thinking though is that I would have thought the hot metal would heat up and stay hot and also absorb heat from the engine bay more than a silicone pipe would and thus the air intake is much hotter air reducing your power. Of course it may not function like this in real terms but I was just wondering that one of the reasons the Forge TIP works so well is that it is replacing the metal section that bolts directly to the turbo and being in silicone, it would stay cooler and not transfer as much heat to the turbo itself. Again I could be wrong but its a theory.

    Looking at the pictures of the SA TIP, it seems to be a 2 piece as well. Metal at the top and silicon at the bottom. Is it any better ? Probably better than stock, likely worse than a Forge TIP. Even APR made a TIP and gave up selling it in Oz as it did the same job as a Forge for more $$$$.

    It is likely to be very expensive shipping to Oz and customs will have a good look at it since it is metal in parts. I'd be surprised if it came in at under $200 each.... of which shipping is likely to be $100-150 each...

    call me a spedstic,

    but how is the Short Ram intake configured? Looking at the picture, I am lost.

    where are they getting the ram air from? because from the intake box to the front of the car, the OEM is at a straightline (almost) how do they shorten it?

    Also, is it just distortion in the pic or does the metal section of the stock TIP actually taper where it joins the black rubber ? I wouldn't have thought it would, but the pic makes it look that way.

    Yes the one on the left is stock.

    And yes the stock TIP does taper at that point.

    This picture can probably show the differance between the stock and Forge TIP's a bit better. This is from when I did my own install on my car.......

    I had a quick look on the website and if you go through the checkout you can calculate shipping. Total price (inc shipping to Sydney) worked out to be AUD $94.00 so if that is the case I'd be willing to give it a go (will take a few weeks until I've got cash again though. Bloody xmas!).

    It may not end up being as good as the Forge TIP but for more than half the price I think it's worth a go and it has to be better than the factory one.
