    This kit has been around for a while now. I came across it some time ago on the UK forums.

    Given the size of the turbo... I don't think flow is a big concern.

    Either way if pressure drop or flow restrictions reductions in power were significant, we'd all be pulling out the intercoolers and piping directly to the intake manifold.

    Isn't the idea of a FMIC to add more power not take it away? Am I missing something? Forge 'claim' significant power & torque gains right through the rev range or so they say.

    None the less Sharkie I'd be interested in a FMIC if the price is right.

    The slightly extra pipe length won't cause a restriction as Ben mentioned above.. don't worry about it

    Extra pipe length causes more lag and not any flow restrictions.

    As I said above ..... difference between the FMIC types will less than 1kw atw, ALL of them making more than stock and all an improvement over stock.

    And .... piping directly into the intake will cause much more power loss than using any inefficient IC ... LOL

    Don’t matter how the intercooler is designed!!
    The air inside is compressed!! Or it goes or it goes!!
    You will find efficiency in the size of the intercooler bigger is better and in the kind of “beehive” used on it!
    The turbo will spool faster if it finds more resistance.

    The size of the piping isn’t a big problem the lag will be minimal…

    Focus on how long the air will be within the intercooler..

    The idea is heat dissipation, less heat equals more power. If you can find a mate with a front mount, go for a fang around the block than hold in out and intake pipes and check out the heat difference. It's all about heat dissipation.

    So a front mount with poor design and bad core will be a waste of time and money.

    Are the stock radiators good enough that fitting a front mount doesn't cause overheating issues??

    Overheating is a big issue with FMIC's, we regularly run at Queensland raceway where the ambient temp will be 40 deg C plus, and overheating is a major issue with turbo cars & front mount intercoolers.

    It is important to factor in the pressure drop BEHIND the intercooler, I have a friend with a 700hp R34 skyline who is on his third FMIC to finally find one that cooled the charge AND did not cause engine temps to go through the roof.

    We also ran our (APR) Polo intercooler on PWR's intercooler flow tester and compared to others that they tested, it performed very well with inside & outside pressure drop. We wanted to make sure before we spent the money to manufacture the unit.

    On a street car driven at 60 all day you might not find any cooling problems, but get it out on the track & pull redline in the gears, lap after lap & you will soon see how it works!
