Intercoolers and for Polo GTI and TDI...and other products!

    Hey all,
I just stumbled across this site which sells what appear to be good quality intercooler kits (including hoses, piping etc.) for the Polo GTI. I have sent them an e-mail regarding shipping and a better offer for a group buy but for a single unit the cost is R4,500 or AUD$666. that price does not include shipping.

how much do you guys think it would cost to get something like this shipped over and would anyone be interested?

    here's the link - http://motorcade.co.za/index.php?mai...roducts_id=440

there's also one for the diesel boys at the same price!

also, there are some other cool products like these...

Simota Pod Filter and heatshield - AUD$99 excl. shipping

Polo GTI Ram Intake Pipe (turbo intake pipe) - AUD$89 excl. shipping

Polo GTI intercooler kit looks good, but the intake piping looks to take the very long route around and under the engine bay, but for R4,500($666.00...I just did the conversion) for this kit, it is a bargain!!!

A few things to note here .....

The extra piping on the FMIC will add more lag to the turbo's response ....

None of the air intakes will actually provide any real benefit due to heatsoak and the restricted space in the engine bay. Its more for sound and show than anything else.

Shipping will be expensive (if by air figure $200-300 each) or slow (by boat figure 6-8weeks )

    SO ....

Provided we get 8+ people interested I can arrange for more FMICs like mine to come in and they will set you back about $950 fitted in BNE. If we get enough interest our bracket and piping manufacturer will make complete kits for installation as well in other locations. Can come in at around $800-850 for a kit then. Pricing to be confirmed though.

Might knock off that headsheild design/concept for the pod, that's about it!

Hoping Sharkie can get the required numbers to bring in some more of his front mounts (which he beat me to above lol)

    great find by the way.

Sharkie if you do get that organized when do you think you'll be doing it?

Most efficient for airflow is the straight through model. Extra piping lenght adds to lag which can be a pain to live with.

Medium efficient is APR and my FMIC's design.

Least efficient is the design which turn back on itself like the FORGE kit.

The differences between the designs are fairly small though as the air inside the FMIC is being forced to move rapidly. Power loss across the 3 designs (on a Polo) should be less than 1kw atw.

No...core area would still be the same...

Core pressure drop would be decreased slightly as the air does not have to make a 180Deg bend (assuming both cores have similar bar/plate configuration)

I'd be keen on a group buy for this depending on final costings. Was going to look at getting a steel one made but this solves that problem.
    Cheers,

    John
