    Intake Mods - Free mods..

    Hi,

The Polo GTi stock intake airbox has a few fixtures and fittings which I question their value...

What is the round tube piece in the airbox for with the bellmouth on it..
This piece simply slides down and out. Does this piece aid air flow by making it smooth or reduce flow? or act as a resonator for intake sound etc??

Also the airbox intake pipe and MAF has a series of grills in there. Do they think an apple is gonna come through as some point? surely these can be removed and the air filter will block any foreign objects.

Are these worthy mods to make that are free or just a waste of time..

Those grills straightn air. So dont remove the front one.

Rear one can be removed tho. But what. 0000.1hp gain. woopie.

Not sure on the bellmouth. But too me it would have more of a performance gain then without.

    Bellmouth:

It helps to straighten the air path into the maf - its shaped like a bell because it acts as a velocity stack (speeds the air flow into the MAF).

If you remove it you would probably gain .00001 of a HP - or maybe you will lose a couple

    New POLO

    Hey Guys and Gals,

I just recently popped the cherry and bought a Polo. 2001 5 door. Is there anything I should watch out for or do to improve the performance. (restricted by the ball and chain.)
