No question if you're planning to put a KO4 on, you'll need more air in. Good luck

Timbo, in order to get to the 250-280 HP i want, i am going to have to upgrade a lot of things, the stock airbox and induction mouth will not support this amout of horsepower full stop (.) if you up the amount of boost you are producing... you should in turn up the amount of air the turbo can receive and get rid of... thats why airbox and exhaust mods are essential. im not going to put a pod filter into the equation at all, as this would wreck the whole idea of getting a ram air effect. A high flow panel filter and other induction mods such as enlarging the diameter of the inlet into the airbox as well as "smoothing" it out will allow you to flow a lot more air.

What we found with a K04, high flow intake pipe and a free flowing airbox (BMC CDA) was our fuelling went out the window (ie started to run lean) - put the stock one back on & its all good.

The difference up top was amazing - so we really want to get more air into this baby with the K04, but we are faced with fuel system upgrades (and its already got an upgraded FPR).

Also look at your MAF inlet size, its 60mm inside the flow straigtner, so that becomes a bottleneck.

We have a heap of Data Logs of the different intake combo's on our car (g/s air) - but unfortunately only with the K04 on board - you can see the difference easily, and also the gains from the intake pipe!

Here are some good articles - good tech back up on the theory and of course, different results from what the ECU did with the air!

    See what you think:
