mike the k04 is def cheaper but u end up with not that much a power gain for the price which from apr inc programming was 2k i thin "dont quote me on that" whereas so far my sums for this kit come up a bit over 4

Sorry Jason for going off topic, i just find this statement intriguing. as i certainly dont have severe traction issues. I could if i wanted to but thats when you start breaking things.

Dam sharkie why did you sell it before we could go down the drags when its cooler.

Traction issues just make it more fun to drive, you need to be more involved in what you are doing. Cars that just do whatever you want them too take away all the fun. If I didn't hear chirping when I nailed it, it wouldn't be fun.

There is more to the K04 conversion than just a power increase. In fact the way it delivers the power, no huge bang at 2K, probably makes it easier on the clutch and gearbox and I also think less tendency to wheelspin than I remember with the stage 1.

This is a pretty good write up on the K04 conversion - better than I've explained.

Not to worry Shane, I'll still have access to it to be able to get the new owner down to the drags (and dyno) in winter. It stayed in the family ...

I blame the crap tyres .... it wasn't just chirping but a hard launch resulted in full-on wheelspin. Taking it easy off the line and then nailing it still results in wheelspin and also in lost "position" in some cases ..... In gear accelleration is still awesome and more power be it K04 or GT28/IHI would have made it even more so. May still happen to it eventually. Actually sat with a new M3 from about 60-100 on Friday afternoon much to the amazement of the driver after he did all the work to get in front of me through the traffic.

Something to note Jason .... going anything other than K04 will mean you need a totally new chip .... may end costing big $$$$

And some more apologies for going off topic .... maybe the last sentence contributed ....

sharkie, from my research so far the code may not be as much as u would think but unless Guy says otherwise, I or any1 else with apr/oettinger would have to look at some1 else.

If you already have stage 1 APR software & buy the APR K04 kit - the software is free of charge (same for the Oettinger for you Jason)

Yeah Guy I understand that, I meant in my comment for any other aftermarket kit, which i do understand the reasons why apr or oettinger couldnt program for it but does mean people with apr/oettinger would have to look elsewhere for ecu tuning
