those ones on that blue polo above are the RS4 replicas and are probably 18" not 17" - those are common here in south africa

the S4 ones would look like this

havent seen too many of these around in replica or original form here - so these are rare in my parts and would look absolutely stunning on a Polo - problem is when a rim was originally designed as a 19" to find a replica smaller than 18" is difficult - and 18's can fit on a polo as long as its 5/100pcd with offset ET43 and you use 215/35/18 tyres - but its not worth lowering your car too much after that or the ride will get bone jarringly harsh - 35mm is around the maximum id drop it

um... not necesarily... i would MAKE sure of the clearances etc before you buy them.. most shops will say.. "yep.. they'll fit for sure" only to have them not fit when you attempt to put em on..
i had this drama (and am going through it again now... ) when we were looking at wheels for our new beetle cabrio.. saw a great set at Bob Jane's ... asked about fitment etc.. yep.. they will fit.. i asked them to ring the manufacturer and speak directly to them as i didn't wanna be stuffed around with it all.. was told yep they will fit both VW and subaru... hmmmmm... that alerted me to the possibility that they may not actually fit. VW and Subaru have same stud pattern... not the same offset. when they ordered the wheels and tyres and tried to fit them... no go.. apparently the offset is made in between VW and Subaru so that supposedly one wheel fits both...

so lesson learnt with that... now i am trying to source new wheels again and am having to do all the calcs on wheel offset etc to make sure in my own mind that the wheels will fit..

Hmmm. Just wondering, if they say it'll fit for sure, and the end product doesn't fit. Don't they legally have to refund you full because they sold you something that didn't fit the description of things??

yes you are right... but it makes it a pita if your wheels come from interstate or overseas.
The one's i am looking at are coming from Sydney and i'm in melb.. so wanna be sure to save the hassle of sending em back and trying to get the money etc.
