G'day everyone,
Can anyone tell me if the cheapie vag-com cables are capable of resetting the service/oil interval on my MY03 Polo? It's annoying the crap out of me
I was thinking of getting this one off ebay ~AU$20...

It says it can run the 409.1 software... is this capable of doing what I'm after?
Seeing these units are so cheap and can only run a dated vag-com version, what's the limitation? No logging? No live sensor feed? I assume it'll give me error codes...
Is there a better way to go than one of these cables while keeping it cheap? I've noticed that the license for an up to date version of the vag-com software is US$99 at ross-tech... many of you guys use this and find it a big improvement in functionality over the 409.1?
Cheers for all the help

409.1 is the basic of basic mate. If you are resetting the service lights follow the attached link, it can be done manually. If you want a good little tool without the functionality of the full blown VCDS then get yourself a Vchecker

From experiance, it's only the early Touaregs that require the diagnostic computer to reset the service reminder. Everything else can be done using the buttons on the dash insert.
If you have the owner's manuals, it's in the 'Controls and Equipment' chapter

Cheers guys The ignition/trip reset procedure did the trick!
What's the km oil/service interval set to when doing this reset? 10,000kms?
Also thanks for pointing out the VChecker, looks like a great tool and from what I can see only lacks data logging when compared against the vag-com software.
