    dude that sucks!!!

i took my mk1 to the wheel and tyre shop to do an alignment...in the first 5mins it was there before i had even gone they busted my linkages! i came back and my F###ing door opener on the inside was broken aswell...

long and the short people don't care for other peoples items and you should take them to court if they won't fix it!!!!!

I think customer service will improve in the current economic environment, so there is an upside to all this!

My dad took his car in for a service, the mechanic took it for a 'test drive' and wrote it off

Hmmmm - when I was much younger I worked as a Night Manager in some of the big hotels on the Gold Coast. I would always wander over to concierge to see what cars were in and what I could take for a fast run through the long car park which adjoined a shopping centre. Shopping centre security would often come along for the ride when they weren’t on the tennis court with binoculars watching people having sex in the hotel rooms. Lambo’s Porsches, Bimmers, (never liked Mercs – too soft) Jap stuff – you name it. Never caused any damage but easily could have.

The boys at the Conrad Casino once got a bit ambitious and took a 930 Turbo out dragging and got discovered when the owner queried why his tyres seemed to have lost all their tread.

NEVER trust your car to hotel staff.

well I am parking my car myself next time!

This will be an expensive repair
    1) New front left shock absorber
    2) Need top strut cap (came out from impact)
    3) New wheel bearing
    4) CV boot (as it was rubbing)
    5) new tyre
    6) Mag wheel repair
    7) Bottom protection plate replacement (whole left side)
    New wheel alignment

    Quote is being written currently.

Westin financial manager has agreed to pay for repairs (he hasn't received full quote yet, I did warn him it will be a 3-4k). The whole thing was captured on CCTV within the car park.

What really pisses me off, is that they were not going to be tell me about the incident unless the car had a punctured tyre.

Probably my car will end up not being usable for at least 2 days.

The wheel was removed, and the shock slid down thus my car was lower on front left corner (I only noticed this yesterday). This was hammered back up, but some mounting plates were dented on the front shock.
Shocks / bearings / CV boot replaced as they are likely damaged from the impact. CV boot was sitting against the shock and rubbing for around 150km. Has a wear mark on.

Can't believe it... how hard was it so that the top strut cap comes off!!
    Grrrrrrr

sounds to me like you need to push for a little more compensation that just the repairs? what about screwing for some punitive damages?

I mean, how would the hotel feel if this story were to make it onto one of those current affiars shows?

I'm sure your silence (and a rental car) can be bought
