Hmmm ... considered this ... then decided not to. Do you REALLY want ppl flashing their headlights at you wherever you go at night?

    Worth thinking about.

Can be done a lot cheaper than with HIDs ... and without annoying oncoming drivers. I put Xenon bulbs in (not HIDs) from Philips ... approx. $100 to replace main and parkers. Claim to be twice as bright as OEM ... but I'm not sure they are. Can get those with a blue tint to them.

Hi there, I also thought about HID...

But it's illegal in NZ, and I would rather keep my car legal at this stage.

Mainly due the reflective patterns and having no auto leveling function = meaning it will dazzle the drivers coming towards you.

Just like the way you hate the cars with retro fitted HID on your rear view mirror.

Very good website you can import bulbs from:
    http://www.powerbulbs.com/

    and also search for
    PIAA H7 on ebay

Powerbulbs stick with main stream brands. The most expensive Philips I heard has good light / brightness, but if you want the blue hue / or the slight purple / pink that I have on my red GTI (looks nice, but not as bright as original) have a look into PIAA 8000k. I had one on my previous rides, and they had really nice blue hue just like HIDs. Never had problem with getting warrants. People did however flash at me, thinking that I had an HID, and I just gave them a high beam back!!

Anyway, putting HID in will also give you higher risk of fogging in the headlights on heavy rains / washing your car, as you need to get a hole made on the cover of the headlights (rubber cap)

Also unless you get a kit with relay for VW / AUDIs, i heard you will get dash lights come on.

If you still want to go ahead with HID:

I've got Phillips diamond vision globes and they have a really nice blue tint and are brighter than the stock globes. They'd be worth checking out.

Philips CrystalVision lights there really good and are a white/blue but really affective I found worth the $95.

You can find them in Supercheap and Autobahn usually.

I'd had both now and the Crystal vision look yellow in comparison to the diamond vision.

Is that mean i need to drill a hole in the rubber cap for those wires? seems like very complicated... anyone have tried that before, if you guys can give me illustration that would be great and also does it really cause fogging in the headlight on heavy rain ? anyone has experienced?
    Thanks heaps!
