    Warning light is simply doing its job, could just be low, then a system pressure test is req to check if in fact any leaks. They do drop over a long period. If they have tested your car and found the sensor faulty then you dont have to replace the coolant if you keep your cap on when changing- the loss is minimal. If the wrong coolant has been filled so what, and so what if its been in an accident- if it is repaired to industry standard then all is well - then replace the coolant - but nothing i have read here should cost anywhere near $450, have an honest independent check your ride mate.

    That service centre sounds crap.


    Also regarding the gear crunches you should ask them why they were driving your car if it was in for a coolant flush....

    And then tell them to ring VW in the UK and ask about the crunches. They released a service bulletin about the crunching and any polo that was getting it had to come back in to get the gearbox oil flushed and changed.
