So what did the dyno figures say ? Haven't seen it, only stating what Guy told me.

And, even if it is less than 165kw atw, look at the tested (Wheels May, Nov and Dec) figures and compare the C30 to the GT3. (A GT3 makes almost double the kw for only 7 tenths difference in the rolling runs .....) Not that much in it and a K04 DOES make more power than a C30 ......

Don't get me wrong, I'd buy a GT3 if I could but unless you take it to a track or burn it from a standing start in the real world a $35K Polo will stick pretty close .....

To get back to the topic. It is an excellent buy for the money. Not a supercar by any means but suprisingly good!

Please tell me how come my Polo with 144kw atw was overtaken in 3rd and 4th gear on eastern creek straight by a 911 and from memory a Boxter S.
Fark you would have been moving

Even though you were overtaken, seeing a little polo going hell for leather around a race track would be a funny/cute sight and if i were a porsche owner on the track... it would bring a smile to my face seeing a little GTI giving it a go and even greater pleasure seeing it dust alot of cars at the track.

No surprise that a 911 turbo overtook you !!!! what a beast.

enough of this nonsense, this is what a 911 turbo did to me on the straight at Sandown (go to 2.35 sec). ..and I ain't slow

the only thing that would beat a 911 turbo like that is a silver A3 with P plates, lucky dave (sovereign) didn't rock up, bc that 911 turbo would've been in strife!!

The Pog is a great little car for what it is stock, and can be readily improved for low $ to produce more power than you can find traction for. It ain't a Porka, nor does it pretend to be, so that whole conversation confounds me.

It is built to a budget and a market segment; it is by no means faultless, but I still can't think of more bang for buck in the new car market.

For what it costs new, the car is fantastic value, but i never brought money into the whole conversation...

Dont let the price overshadow some of the failings of the car.

I want my Homebrand milk to taste like full priced milk and still get my calcium intake for the day!

Or what im trying to say, is that everything you have in life, has its positives... and negatives...

Yes its a great little car, but it isnt perfect..

Am i disapointed that i bought the car?

    Of course not!

But i still see the shortcomings... and were just listing them as i see it...

If you want a small car with a bit of power. Dont bother with the other three... Just go straight for the polo!

Unless your a syko with no taste then go for the colt..... or like BIG STRIPES then go for the ford... Or like a badge that implies power, but has none.. go for the swift....

I had a similar experience at QLD raceway, but it still felt good being on the same track knowing that the Polo costs about 1/6th of the Porsche. One of the mistakes I made was also trying to break at the same time as the Porsche into the corner....the break upgrades are coming
Still I would like a Porsche, although I can't see trading the wife and kids and the landcruiser in on one at this point.

And GT3 I think you are right about the kw, although I haven't had it dynoed yet. Going to a dyno may spark another heap of debates about "wrong gear / wrong dyno / wrong temp / bad operator" and $%%#^ what else I read so far on the forums. What I know is that I can't get traction in 1st and 2nd is a challenge by 3rd its ok, the LSD didn't help that much in the straight line and neither did bigger tyres or wheels, maybe a few bags of cement will assist.

    Bloody got that right.

Its amazing what a set of P plates can do for a cars performance.

wise words ralphk, and whatever ppl spend on the Polo GTI is all relative really - some expect it to be flawless in every respect for under 30k, others hit 45k and figure they have potent performance weapons for a fraction of the price of exotic performance cars.

I admire your attitude about not giving a stuff re kw atw, keep it that way ..all you need to know is it's more than you can hook up in 1st, 2nd and, well...3rd! ..I reckon your car would give the new EVO and WRX STI a fright on the track too, and for 60+k, boy are they ugly, particularly the new WRX!
